As your therapist, I empathically listen while doing my best to answer any questions that may arise in therapy. This approach creates a forum where the client feels comfortable to share their struggles and helps them alleviate barriers and fosters an authentic therapeutic connection. I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor LCMHCS in NC and LPC in SC and Board Certified National Certified Counselor and have also completed a two-year professional addiction counselor-training program with several years clinical experience working with addictions. I'm also certified by the AACC to treat sexual addictions. I treat all types of psychological issues, specializing in work with Individuals with Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Panic Disorder and Grief/Loss, Life Transitions, Couples and Family Therapy. I also possess years of experience working with addictions (i.e., sex and relationship addictions, alcohol, drugs, food, etc.).

What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
I take a holistic approach in treating anxiety and panic disorder as with ANY other struggles. I help the client to look at all aspects of their lives (e.g., stress, trauma, isolation, fears, relationship, work and or school stressors, lifestyle, food, sleep patterns, nutrition, spiritual life, and medical issues) that might contribute to their current struggles. I utilize special breathing techniques, mediations, CBT therapy, and special interventions that specifically target and reduce anxiety and panic. Life presents us with so many unexpected challenges and transitions. You may feel overwhelmed, demotivated, detached or even hopeless. At New Directions Psychotherapies I’ll walk alongside you to help you create emotional balance and overall wellness, freeing you from whatever it is that is keeping you stuck or blocked from achieving your goals and living life to the fullest.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I have a great passion and conviction to support people in their life journey and in times of hurt stress and struggles. Having done and continue to do my own therapy work and having personally experienced the benefits of therapy. This motivated me in coming along side of others to help them in their process with confidence.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I know that seeking out a therapist can be an intimidating venture, so I make it my priority within the first contacts to help the client feel relaxed and confident in my expertise to assist them while creating an environment of safety and trust where they can examine, experience and process their own thoughts, feelings, or anything that they deem important. As your therapist, I empathically listen while doing my best to answer any questions that may arise in therapy.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am deeply committed to each client that entrusts themselves to me in working with them in their sacred journey. As mentioned earlier, I am not only your therapist, but also have done my own healing work and continue to do so. These facts working together, can greatly enhance your therapeutic experience and predict a better outcome of healing.
What's your experience with relationship counseling?
I work with couples at all levels of commitment, transitions and stages from pre-marital to long term relationships. I utilize Imago therapy principles which helps couples look at the root causes of their conflicts rather than symptoms they’re experiencing and answering the questions as to why the couple is disillusioned, disconnected, arguing, distancing, and so often "fall out of love." In couples therapy I help the clients work through: Poor Communication, Conflict Resolution and Management, Sexual and Intimacy Issues, and Infidelity. I assist the couple in creating increased connections and build intimacy that lead to Reconciliation and Forgiveness.
