I'm a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC), with a Master’s Degree in Nursing. As a motivated advocate for mental health, I work with adolescents and adults to provide them with the quality, compassionate, and holistic care. I have a solid background in healthcare and deliberately builds strong relationships with patients and their families. I combine evidence-based practices and personal observations to treat my patients.
Joining One Behavioral Health in TX is a bit of a homecoming for me. As the U. S. Navy Veteran, I returned to the area after 3 years of serving her peers in Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. I am passionate about improving the mental wellbeing and developing innovations. I am also dedicated to preventing suicides and enhancing behavioral medicine management.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist driven by a passion for improving mental health and making a meaningful difference in people's lives. My journey as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner stems from a desire to advocate for those facing mental health challenges, particularly adolescents and adults. My experiences in the U.S. Navy and at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center reinforced my commitment to serving my community and addressing the pressing need for mental health support. What motivates me to continue is the opportunity to witness the resilience and growth of my patients as they navigate their mental health journeys. Every positive outcome, no matter how small, reaffirms my dedication to preventing suicides, enhancing behavioral medicine management, and advancing innovations in mental health care.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
For those hesitant to try therapy, I wish to convey that seeking help is a courageous step towards self-improvement and well-being. Therapy offers a safe and supportive space to explore one's thoughts, feelings, and experiences, free from judgment or stigma. It's essential to recognize that everyone faces challenges in life, and seeking professional support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Therapy provides valuable tools and strategies for coping with stress, managing emotions, and fostering personal growth. I encourage individuals to approach therapy with an open mind, knowing that they deserve support and deserve to live a fulfilling life.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am deeply committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, and holistic care. With a background in healthcare and a Master's Degree in Nursing, I bring both expertise and empathy to every interaction. I prioritize building strong therapeutic relationships with my patients and their families, recognizing the importance of trust and collaboration in the healing process. My approach integrates evidence-based practices with personal observations, tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances. Furthermore, my experience as a U.S. Navy Veteran instilled in me a strong sense of duty and dedication to serving others, particularly in the realm of mental health.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Initial Visit - 45 minutes
An initial visit involves a medical history review, an assessment of your specific symptoms and concerns, and possible diagnostic tests to evaluate a patient's health, identify issues, and develop and discuss treatment options.
Follow-up Visit - 15 minutes
A follow-up visit involves checking the progress of the patient's treatment plan, assessing any new symptoms or concerns, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed to ensure optimal health outcomes.
Medication Refill - 15 minutes
A medication refill appointment typically involves a brief review of existing patient's medical history, confirming the need for the medication refill, and issuing a new prescription. It may also involve evaluating any side effects or concerns related to the medication and ensuring that the treatment plan is still appropriate for the patient's needs.
How can you provide care remotely?
As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I've integrated remote care into my practice to ensure accessibility and convenience for my patients. Through telemedicine platforms, I conduct virtual appointments where I can assess symptoms, provide counseling, and manage medications. This method allows me to reach patients who may have difficulty attending in-person appointments due to various reasons such as distance, mobility issues, or busy schedules. I ensure confidentiality and privacy during these sessions, maintaining the same level of professionalism and empathy as in face-to-face interactions. Additionally, I leverage digital tools for secure communication and electronic health record management, enabling seamless continuity of care.
