How does dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) work and how can it help?
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) helps individuals develop practical skills to manage intense emotions, cope with stress, improve relationships, and stay present in the moment. DBT focuses on four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I work with clients to identify unhelpful patterns and build healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. DBT can be especially helpful for anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and improving overall emotional resilience.
How can you provide EMDR remotely?
EMDR can be effectively adapted for virtual sessions using secure telehealth platforms and specialized online tools for bilateral stimulation. Before beginning trauma processing, I help clients develop coping skills and emotional regulation techniques to ensure they feel prepared and supported. During remote EMDR sessions, I guide clients through the process while maintaining a safe and structured environment. Many clients find virtual EMDR to be a convenient and effective way to process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and promote healing from the comfort of their own space.
How do you work with clients with ADHD?
When working with clients who have ADHD, I take a personalized and strengths-based approach. Together, we explore how ADHD affects areas such as focus, organization, time management, emotional regulation, and daily responsibilities. I help clients develop practical strategies to improve productivity, reduce frustration, and build confidence in their abilities. When appropriate, I also provide medication management as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. My goal is to help clients better understand their ADHD, leverage their strengths, and create systems that support success in everyday life.
