How does child or adolescent therapy work and how can it help?

The teen years can be incredibly challenging, filled with stress and uncertainty, but the right support can make all the difference. My role is to be one of those supports, providing tools and guidance to help your teen work toward their goals. I’m here to create a safe, non-judgmental space where your child can freely explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I have experience using dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help teens navigate and manage their emotions. Together, we’ll focus on building skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and strengthening relationships. These tools are designed to help your teen face challenges with confidence and resilience. Beyond skills, our time together is also about connection—creating a space where your teen feels seen and supported. Whether we’re using art, storytelling, or games, we’ll tap into your teen’s creativity and curiosity to uncover new insights and possibilities, helping them rediscover joy and growth along the way.

Why is trauma processing important?

In addition to talk therapy, I use Brainspotting as a powerful tool for processing trauma. This gentle yet effective approach helps clients access and resolve emotional pain, offering a path toward healing that feels safe and transformative. I utilize Brainspotting to support clients coping with anxiety, trauma, and emotions that may be hard to convey. This can include traumatic upbringings, PTSD/CPTSD, stress in the workplace or school, and burnout from different factors.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

Every session will look different! I love to pull in different things to make you feel comfortable with me. This could be playing a card game, coloring, doing an art project, sitting on the floor, etc. It's really about whatever makes you feel most at ease in the therapy process!
