About Sandra
Hi, I'm Sandra Gainey, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas practicing under the supervision of Sharon Good, MA, LPC-S. With a Master of Education in Counseling, I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the quiet struggles that often go unspoken.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 12 years in education — 11 as a teacher for students with special needs and one year as a school counselor. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how people learn, grow, and struggle, and it continues to inform the patience and care I bring to every session.

Approaches · Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)
How does acceptance and commitment (ACT) work, and what do sessions look like?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps individuals develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions while focusing on what matters most to them. In sessions, we can explore personal values, practice accepting uncomfortable feelings without allowing them to control decisions, and identify meaningful steps toward change. Progress may involve greater emotional flexibility, increased self-awareness, and the ability to navigate life's challenges with more confidence and purpose.
Specialties · Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD)
What's your approach to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and what does progress look like for clients?
My approach to supporting individuals with OCD focuses on creating a safe, understanding space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. Together, we can work toward understanding how obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors affect daily life and develop healthier ways to respond to distress. Progress may look like feeling more confident managing anxiety, experiencing less disruption from intrusive thoughts, and gaining greater flexibility in daily routines.
