About Sarah

I have spent my career focused on LGBTQ+ issues, and more specifically, gender identity issues. Transition is a big decision, and there is a lot involved. I help clients to navigate gender identity questions, determine what the best path forward is, and connect them to the resources they need to pursue transition in the way that best fits for them. I guide my clients through the process of transition to help them achieve authenticity, including HRT and surgery letters in addition to counseling. I won't make you jump through hoops to get referrals, and can often approve you in a single session. Another of my specialties is working with couples. Relationships are fundamental to our existence. Using my extensive training and experience, I help couples to build healthier communication and conflict resolution. I am also experienced in working with polyamory, BDSM dynamics, same-sex relationships, and relationships where one partner is in transition. As a member of and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, I understand the unique struggles that members of the community face regarding coming out, family complications, self-acceptance, and other issues. I help my clients to navigate these issues, and to live their best life possible.

What's your experience with relationship counseling?

Relationships are fundamental to our existence. Using my extensive training and experience, I help couples to build healthier communication and conflict resolution. I am also experienced in working with polyamory, BDSM dynamics, same-sex relationships, and relationships where one partner is in transition. I have trained in the Gottman Method for 10+ years, and I have been able to help many couples improve their communication, their conflict, and their overall relationship satisfaction.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I became a therapist because when I was younger, therapy got me through a lot of issues in a way that nothing else was able to. I wanted to help people in the same way I had been helped: by providing empathic, non-judgmental, open-minded care to people who needed it. I told myself that if I could help one person, save one life, the hard work would be worth it, and it absolutely has been.

What's your experience with the Gottman method?

I have completed levels 1, 2 and 3 of Dr. John Gottman's Couples Therapy Training Program. I utilize the Gottman Method with my couples clients to help them improve their conflict style, their communication, to help them recover from infidelity, or just to strengthen their relationship.

How can you provide care remotely?

Virtual therapy is great for people who need something flexible. You can do it from your home, your car, your office (as long as you have privacy). You can do it on your lunch break, while your child is napping, when you have a break in your day- all without having to fight traffic or commute. My clients love that I offer virtual therapy, and most prefer it to in-person therapy due to the flexibility.

What's your experience with clients with transgender issues?

Transition is a big decision, and there is a lot involved. I help clients to navigate gender identity questions, determine what the best path forward is (because it can be different for everyone), and connect them to the resources they need to pursue transition in the way that best fits for them. I guide my clients through the process of transition to help them achieve authenticity, including HRT and surgery letters in addition to counseling. If you already know exactly what you want to do regarding your transition, I don't make you jump through hoops to get HRT letter or surgery referrals, and can often approve you in a single session.

What's your experience working with issues in sex and sexuality?

As a member of and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, I understand the unique struggles that members of the community face regarding coming out, family complications, self-acceptance, and other issues. I operate from a sex-positive perspective, and offer non-judgmental approach to helping clients with these issues. I have a background in sex education, and am comfortable discussing any and all sex-related issues, in addition to helping my clients navigate their own sexuality.
