About Shannon
I have been in the field of social work for over 20 years and currently hold a clinical license in social work. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working closely with children and families, supporting them through many different life challenges and transitions. Over time, my work has grown into a deep passion for helping women and couples who are struggling with infertility, pregnancy loss, and the emotional weight that often comes with these experiences. These journeys can bring feelings of grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, isolation, and uncertainty, and I strive to provide a compassionate space where clients feel understood, supported, and not alone. I also hold a certificate in Maternal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International, which has strengthened my ability to support clients through reproductive and perinatal mental health concerns. My approach is warm, supportive, and client-centered, helping individuals and couples process their experiences, build coping tools, and move forward with greater hope and emotional resilience.

How do you work with clients with depression?
I work with clients with depression by first creating a safe, supportive space where they can talk openly about what they are experiencing without feeling judged. Depression can affect energy, motivation, relationships, self-worth, and hope, so I help clients identify what feels most difficult and take small, manageable steps toward healing. My approach may include exploring painful thoughts and emotions, building coping skills, strengthening support systems, and understanding how grief, trauma, infertility, or life transitions may be contributing to depression. I work at the client’s pace and focus on helping them feel less alone, more supported, and more connected to themselves.
How do you work with clients with grief?
I work with grief in a compassionate and gentle way, recognizing that grief does not follow a straight path or a fixed timeline. For women and couples experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss, or other painful life experiences, grief can feel especially isolating and misunderstood. I help clients make space for their loss, process the emotions that come with it, and find ways to carry their grief while still moving forward. This may include exploring sadness, anger, guilt, trauma, or unanswered questions, while also helping clients reconnect with hope, meaning, and support.
How does internal family systems (IFS) work and how can it help?
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is an approach that helps clients understand the different “parts” of themselves. For example, one part may feel anxious, another may feel angry, another may want to avoid pain, and another may carry deep sadness or grief. In IFS, we work to understand these parts with curiosity instead of judgment. This can be especially helpful for clients navigating infertility, loss, trauma, anxiety, or depression, because these experiences often bring up many conflicting emotions. IFS helps clients build more self-compassion, understand where certain reactions come from, and create more inner calm and balance.
