About Sharon

I specialize in working with couples who are committed to their partners, but due to high levels of conflict and patterns of distress, are having difficulty feeling close and connected. I also specialize in working with individuals who keep feeling baffled that they continue to feel insecure, anxious, depressed, or unhappy despite their logical understanding that they are OK. I use two primary models that are proven to be effective for trauma and distress: EFT and TIST. They are both experiential, integrative, and rooted in attachment theory. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and find it to be highly effective in helping people make sense of their negative patterns, share more connectively and vulnerably, and find new positive patterns together. I am also certified as a level 3 TIST practitioner, which is a model that helps people with past traumatic experiences work gently with themselves in safe, gradual, and stabilizing ways.

How do you work with clients with parenting issues?

When working with parenting concerns, I help parents better understand both their child's emotional needs and their own reactions within the parent-child relationship. Parenting challenges often become more manageable when we recognize how stress, attachment patterns, past experiences, and communication styles influence family dynamics. Together, we explore practical strategies for strengthening connection, improving communication, setting healthy boundaries, and responding to difficult behaviors with greater confidence and consistency. My goal is to help parents create secure, supportive relationships that foster emotional well-being and healthy development for both themselves and their children.

How does attachment-based therapy work and how can it help?

Attachment-based therapy focuses on understanding how early relationships and life experiences influence the way we connect with ourselves and others today. Many struggles with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship conflict, or emotional disconnection can be linked to patterns developed to cope with past experiences. Through a supportive and collaborative process, we explore these patterns, identify underlying emotional needs, and develop healthier ways of relating. Using evidence-based approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), clients learn to build greater self-compassion, emotional security, resilience, and deeper, more satisfying relationships.
