Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I feel that I was put on this earth to help people. I originally became a therapist after my parents got divorced in my late teens. As time passed, I began noticing more divorces in my inner circle and it intrigued me enough to find out why some people are able to have more successful or healthier relationships than others. I became certified in trauma after working with the severely mentally ill population and seeing a lot of trauma and the impact it had on their lives. This led me down the path of neuroscience, which clearly shows we all have the inner ability to heal ourselves. I incorporate studies of neuroscience into my work with trauma and psychotherapy in general.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

How can you provide care remotely?

How does family or marital therapy work and how can it help?

There's a misconception that couples therapy is reserved as the last-step before separation or divorce. Couples therapy can be helpful in facilitating difficult conversations with each other. Skills provided and topics addressed are usually communication skills, conflict resolution (how to fight fairly and how to resolve it), patterns of communication (how you each talk and listen and how it "lands") and discussing expectations, as well as any underlying concerns that would need to be addressed. I offer pre-marital counseling as well and couples counseling is a great way to address any concerns you have immediately that can make a good relationship- a great one.
