What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
People struggling with anxiety really benefit from mindfulness and relaxation techniques along with Exposure Response Therapy. The body /brain is in a fight or flight mode. My job is to find out why and lower the level of the nervous system so it is not in an alarm state all the time. It is also challenging thoughts and beliefs.
What's your experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a very helpful technique that I use often in my practice.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I had a counselor in high school who had a great impact on me. I have always been a highly intuitive and curious person about myself and others. In college, I went right into the field of psychology to learn all about human behavior and never stopped.
What's your experience with clients with depression?
I find that each individual is extremely different in my approach. I find that using a strength-based approach along with a psychodynamically oriented approach incorporating mindfulness and CBT and ACT practices usually works best.
What's your experience with acceptance and commitment (ACT)?
I find that ACT can be another helpful technique used in therapy and I am very experienced in it.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A typical first session begins with getting to hear from the client what brings them in and and making them feel comfortable, validated, and heard. I want my client to feel comfortable
What's your experience with relationship counseling?
I am trained in. Gottman Level 2 and have experience working with couples.
How can you provide care remotely?
My approach with therapy doesn't change while being remote. I give the same level of care remotely as I do in person. The patients that have switched to remote say they like it as much as in-person and sometimes more for the convenience factor.
What's your experience with children or adolescents?
I work a lot with adolescents. I like the challenge that they are just beginning the journey of trying to figure out who they are and are at the cusp of young adulthood. Teenagers can be tough sometimes but they many have so much to say and want to tell you. They want to talk to someone who is not their parent.
What's your experience working with issues in sex and sexuality?
I work with many individuals who are challenging or exploring their sexuality or wanting to come out to families for the first time I also work with couples who deal with issues surrounding having enough sex or what their sexual fantasies are.
