Hello! I'm Subrina Seenarain, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) passionate about providing compassionate care. With a Master's degree in Psychiatric Mental Health from New York University and a Bachelor's in Nursing from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, I am committed to helping you manage your mental health effectively.
Throughout my career, I've worked in various settings, from inpatient hospitals to addiction recovery centers and homes. I've conducted psychiatric evaluations, delivered psychotherapy, and managed medications for diverse populations. As an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Helene Fuld College of Nursing and New York University, I mentor future nurses to ensure they provide the best care. My expertise includes psychosis, ADHD, depression, anxiety, acute stress, panic disorder, PTSD, mood disorders, and adult-geriatric mental health.
I believe in a holistic approach to mental health. My aim is to ensure you receive the support you need for both body and mind. Continuous learning is my priority; I've pursued multiple certifications, including palliative care and dementia care, to provide you with the highest quality, empathetic care.
If you need a partner in your mental health journey, I'm here for you every step of the way. Reach out, and together, we'll work on achieving your mental well-being.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I am passionate about helping people navigate their mental health challenges and find healing. Throughout my career, I've seen how mental health impacts every aspect of a person’s life, and I wanted to be a part of that transformative journey. What motivates me to continue is witnessing the positive changes my clients experience as they regain control, find balance, and improve their quality of life. Being able to support people through their toughest moments is deeply fulfilling and keeps me committed to this work.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
For anyone hesitant to try therapy, I want you to know that seeking help is a brave and empowering step toward improving your well-being. Therapy isn't about judgment—it's about creating a safe space where you can explore your feelings, gain new perspectives, and find effective ways to cope with life’s challenges. It’s okay to feel unsure, but you don’t have to go through things alone. Therapy can help you understand yourself better and offer the support you need to make positive changes.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me are collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs. We begin by discussing your concerns and goals, and I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share openly. Depending on your needs, I use a variety of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, or trauma-focused techniques. Each session is a partnership—together, we’ll work through challenges, explore solutions, and empower you to take positive steps in your mental health journey.
