Hi, I’m Tanya. I am a psychotherapist, but you can call me a loving, curious, exploratory, and playful cat or a heart-soul coach. Life is hard, I learned to be playful, and not take myself too seriously. I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of the healing journey.

What's your experience with relationship counseling?
You are tired of not feeling understood and feel confused about your relationship. You want to run, but feel tethered to your partner and know that there is still a spark. You want to be seen, heard, and feel that connection again. No one gets a manual on how to have a healthy relationship with awesome boundaries. A lot of what gets us stuck in our relationship is a lack of skills and safety and calmly navigating difficult conversations. Let's face it; relationships are hard in themselves, then throw kids, financial stress, personal development, our personal baggage in the mix, and it can become a shit show. You are not alone!
Many of my clients struggle with the daily stress that tears them away from their relationship. I can help you and your partner get clear on your priorities, practice assertive communication skills, establish healthy boundaries, and MOST of all, find joy, love, reconnection. I am compassionate, honoring that you both have different values and belief systems and validate your life experiences.
I offer expressive arts techniques to help with communication between you two and to help you learn how to play and have fun with your partner. I also use Imago Therapy and the Gottman Method to help you understand your relationship dynamics and support you through this journey. I will walk beside you on your journey, and you lead the pace that is right for you. I commend you for taking the first step towards a healthier and more fulfilling relationship. I am looking forward to walking alongside you on this journey.
What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
Anxiety is hard. Anxiety shuts you down and stops you from living the life you deeply desire. You feel like you are on a hamster wheel that you cannot seem to jump off of. You are afraid people will see through our tough exterior and see the insecure parts. Anxiety stops you from taking saying what you need, doing that one thing you are afraid of. You are tired of feeling so afraid. In therapy, together, we help discover what keep fueling your anxiety, ways to cope, and ultimately help you embrace your joy and the real you. You do not have to shoulder all these feelings and changes alone. Together we can guide you to feeling confident in your changes and live the whole life you know is in your heart. You can live an authentic/real life that matches your values. Yes, you can still use your superb boss skills, enjoy your work, and live a life that is full of meaning and value for you. You have permission to have that and much more! Anxiety and acting strong is eating you alive on the inside. You do not have to shoulder these feelings alone! I can help!
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I wholeheartedly believe in the goodness of people. The human heart and soul are resilient and know how to heal with the right support, compassion, being seen and heard.
I believe that emotional healing, spiritual transformation, respect, self-care, and unconditional support can and (will) change our world.
Also, I am good at what I do, plus I LOVE it! I get motivated when my clients can see their freedom, strength, and power to relate to themselves, their loved ones, and the world in a healthy way. It is inspiring to see my clients come out of this dark depression/anxiety cycle and live a life that feels meaningful to them.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I get it. Trusting someone with your thoughts and feelings can be nerve-wracking. It may feel daunting and together we can help you navigate through your struggles. You are not alone! Many times, it is hard to receive love and support. You are worthy and get to have that!
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am honest, direct, will gently, compassionately, and kindly help you see how you stand in your own way. I am a therapist that jumps in there with you and not just nods my head and says, "how does that make you feel?".
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
During your first session, we’ll work on your intake paperwork & sign releases. Your first session will be 75 minutes to cover paperwork & get to know each other. This session will be a little longer to get a complete understanding of your needs & how I can help. Every session after will be 50 minutes, & I recommend in the beginning, we meet once a week for the first 9 weeks to keep up the momentum we see in session. Payment is collected at the beginning/end of your session via Credit Card or Cash.
In the next follow-up sessions, you will receive a link to click on during our appointment. Please log on a couple of minutes before our meeting time and hang out in my virtual waiting room. To make sure you have a good experience in person, please find a quiet room with the door closed, locked, and with no interruptions. Please make sure you are connected to the internet which helps us have a secure and clear connection.
Let’s demystify therapy. You might have seen how T.V shows, and media portray therapy. You might even think that you come in, and you will have this person nodding at the other end, repeating what you say, and asking how that makes you feel? Ugh! That’s not was is going to happen. You know why you are here and ready to jump in. I know how to help you. It is pretty straightforward. We might talk about deep things that you are not prepared to talk about, how an employee/co-worker annoyed the crap out of you, or how frustrating it is to balance work and life sometimes. In the session, you are guiding the conversation, and my role is to be curious, emphatic/compassionate, and follow your lead. I work best with someone ready for change. I cannot change you; YOU are the only one that can change. I am here to support you in that charge. I spent many years dealing with shame, and my defense was if I keep moving, succeeding, and achieving, I can magically outrun the shame, right? Ha, that does not work! I have been in the pits of shame/anxiety and want to help you with the tools and skills I learned along the way, so you do not have to.
I am not your run-of-the-mill therapist. I am a weird, quirky, and cool therapist. I wholeheartedly jump in with compassion and grit to help you figure out what is blocking you from living the life you want. You might be wondering, does she know what she is doing? What life experience does she have? Let me answer your questions: I do know what I am doing. I love what I do, and I am pretty good at it.
How can you provide care remotely?
What is online therapy, and what do I need?
Online therapy is very similar to in-person therapy, but we connect online via a safe and secure video platform. You can join your home, a safe, private work environment (office), or some clients connect in their cars. I used a HIPAA secure and compliant video platform to protect your confidentiality/privacy from my home office. To have a tremendous online therapy experience, you must have a private/quiet/uninterrupted “session hour” where you can openly talk and explore what is going on and reliable internet and a secure device. We will discuss safety during our initial intake appointment.
What are the advantages of online therapy?
Online therapy provides flexibility for clients who juggle many different responsibilities. You can be in the comfort of your own home or a private location that works for you; we can still do our online therapy session. Online therapy allows you to specifically work with me, even if you live in a remote area or some distance from me. Some clients note that space and the screen provide a level of safety. Who benefits from online therapy? Online Therapy is an excellent option for clients who want to engage in therapy. However, they struggle with time constraints. It is also a great choice if clients want to work with my particular specialties and expertise.
Is online therapy for everybody?
No. Online therapy is not for everyone. Clients who struggle with severe mental health symptoms such as chronic panic attacks, self-harm, frequent suicidal thoughts, or safety concerns will be best helped by seeing a local in-person therapist. Online therapy can also be a challenge for someone who does not have internet connectivity or a safe and private place to talk.
