How do you work with clients with anxiety?

Every client is different. Often, anxiety also requires medication management, so I would collaboratively work with the clients PCP or Psychiatrist around management. I also believe in psycoeducation, and can utilize various techniques such as mindfulness, somatic experiencing, CBT, talk therapy. In a collaborative way with each client I can work to give each client various tools that will help clients manage symptoms of anxiety.
About Me

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

Personal history of mental health and chronic conditions along with a child who has moderate ADHD sparked a desire to learn as much as possible about mental health and disability. Now that I have the proper education and experience I want to help others who have struggled with finding life balance and help people live the best life possible.
About Me

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

Change is hard, I get it. Most people walk around thinking they don't need insight or to change anything, but they keep having negative relationships, experience odd feelings or thoughts or don't quite know why things keep happening. Therapy is collaborative and focused on awareness. Once you have awareness anything is possible.
About Me

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

I have a personal history of insecure attachment, various chronic conditions including chronic pain,I also am on the spectrum as highly sensitive person and my Myers Briggs if infj, my son has moderate ADHD which requires medication, family members with cancer that requires extensive medical support and ageing parents gives me unique lived experiences of a variety of life "things" . Between my education, trainings, and lived experience I'm uniquely qualified to truly have empathetic understanding to be able to help each client with a variety of conditions.
About Me

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?

First clients can expect to read and sign paperwork which covers confidentiality and how the fees work. Then each client and I can talk about the symptoms they experience, family history, and what each client expects or is looking to achieve from therapy. I can utilize a variety of tools with the goal of symptom reduction in mind . Generally I like to use family systems, attachment theory, warm and empathetic talk therapy with a dash of acceptance commitment therapy. If clients want a structured session with work sheets and homework we can do that, if a client prefers talk therapy that's ok too.
