What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
Do you feel 'stuck' in emotions, circumstances, and situations? Do you feel as if circumstances are out of your control? Do you want to be in 'control' of something in your life? Such thoughts and actions often lead to a temporary illusion of control that can often lead to disillusionment. You're searching for someone - something - anything that can help you feel better - have "real" lasting change.
The genuine transformation that you seek is possible. I want you to understand that underneath all of the feelings of anxiety and stress is a version of you pleading to break free - free from the emotional shackles that have held you bound for so long - to rise from the ashes - to rise from the chaos - to rise from the you that you 'used' to be - to become restored, renewed, and empowered. If these feelings ever crossed your mind - if this is you today - welcome!
Welcome to the first step to a new you! I believe that the genuine change we seek lies within and is available to each one of us. I've seen, firsthand, the power of change in individual' lives.
I have helped countless individuals overcome anxiety. Is it a fleeting anxiety that ebbs and flows based on the situation you are in or is it a general feeling that doesn't leave and keep you awake at night? Anxiety often stems from the perceived inability to control our situation and the sense of worry that ensues as a result thereof.
I utilize best-practice theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help reduce and eliminate your symptoms. At the core of anxiety is often an anxious mind - what is next, what happens if, when, etc. The ability to understand the feelings that surround anxiety can help serve to reduce them.
Understanding why certain people, tasks, situations, etc., evoke feelings of anxiety is one of the first steps towards healing. Together we will work to gain insight into how your thoughts impact your feelings. In time you will notice that your anxiety is replaced with a sense of individual empowerment that helps you rise above your feelings. Are you ready to become restored, renewed, and empowered? Call me today so we can schedule your first session!
What's your experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been a theory fundamental to my practice. The core of CBT is that your cognition ("thoughts") impact your behavior. Succinctly put, if you change your thoughts, you can change your behavior.
I use CBT, to one degree or another, with every client I see. I have seen, while teaching this technique, the lightbulb go off for my clients. So many times, in life, we are not allowed to express our thoughts. This undoubtedly leads to stress, anxiety, worry, burnout, feeling overwhelmed, etc. When clients see that their thoughts, literally what they tell themselves (or think about themselves), can impact their behavior - the possibilities are endless!
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
My calling is to be the source of calm in your life. I have worked with individuals struggling with negative thought patterns, doubt, stress, and anxiety. My passion is helping you become renewed, restored, and actively engaged in life again. Are you ready to take the first step? Contact me to schedule your first session today!
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
My style is eclectic in nature. I work from a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy modality and incorporate Christian Counseling should you so desire. I also use Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
What's your experience with clients with stress?
I have helped countless individuals overcome stress. Is this stress that comes during a situational event with family or does the stress linger to a point where you aren't sure what to do next? Stress often stems from our inability to see a plan how to handle a situation, meet a deadline, or accomplish a goal. Stress can be a 'catch phrase' we use to discuss how we feel when we aren't able, or never learned, to label our specific emotions.
I utilize best-practice theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help reduce and eliminate your symptoms. At the core of our stress is often the need to please - to handle our situation so others approve and even a sense that we must 'have it all together.' The ability to understand the thought patterns that create our stress actually work to help eliminate them.
Understanding why certain people, tasks, situations, etc., evoke feelings of stress is one of the first steps towards healing. Anxiety and stress are often presented together. I'd like to take you on a journey where we will work to gain insight into how your thoughts impact your feelings. In time you will notice that your anxiety and stress is replaced with a sense of individual empowerment that will help you rise above your feelings!
What's your experience working with issues in sex and sexuality?
I have helped countless individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. Are you working to come to terms with your sexual orientation? Have you decided to come out to your family, friends, or colleagues? Are you struggling to reconcile your sexuality with your spirituality?
I utilize best practices such as Eclectic Theory and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to personalize an approach for you. What is your personal story? Who is in your support network? How will you know when what is currently causing you stress is no longer there?
Together we will work to gain insight into how your thoughts impact your feelings. In time you will notice that your need for acceptance from others is replaced by genuinely loving yourself for who you were created to be! Are you ready to rise above the noise that has held you back? I look forward to helping you become empowered as you gain confidence in who you are!
What's your experience with eclectic therapy?
Eclectic Therapy is, in essence, utilizing multiple therapeutic modalities. I believe this is vital. Different techniques may work best during different times or in different situations.
I envision therapy, in a way, as an art. Just as there are many mediums in art to help you present your desired masterpiece, there are many therapeutic modalities to help you reach your desired goals. At times you may need an approach where you look more internally and discover your past. At other times you may need an approach to help you understand why you feel a certain way and learn how to express this. Yet there are also times in life when you need to find solutions to your present situations. I utilize Eclectic Therapy and its unique modalities to add tools to your toolbox so you are empowered!
