Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My desire to become a therapist came about during my adolescence. During that time a close relative was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Viewing his journey and seeing how poorly people with mental health concerns were treated propelled me into the helping field.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Therapy is a safe space for clients to share their thoughts and work through issues in a nonjudgmental environment. There is no wrong way to "do" therapy.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
Typical sessions with me are structured around the client's needs and goals. Therapy with me is about bringing awareness to unhealthy behaviors and thought patterns that may be impacting your life. Without recognition of these patterns it is impossible to make a conscious decision to engage in a new behavior.
