About Victoria
Great to meet you. I am so glad you are here! I am an LCSW, licensed to practice in the state of Virginia. I received my B.A. in Sociology from Norfolk State University and a Master's in Social Work in Advanced Clinical Practice from Walden University. I specialize in treating youth and adolescents, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem, and women's issues. I utilize a person-centered, solution-focused approach to empower my clients to effect change in their lives. My approach to therapy is to empower individuals to achieve the goals they set for themselves. I support my clients by providing a safe and non-judgmental space to be seen and heard. I create an environment that is supportive and productive. My clients can expect to leave our sessions feeling motivated and also challenged to make effective changes.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A typical session always starts with a check in. I like to give individuals the opportunity to unpack anything that has occurred since we last met. After the check in I typically review what was covered or accomplished during the previous session and let the client lead the way from there.
How do you work with clients with family conflict issues?
When working with families in conflict I utilize a systems and solution focused approach. I work with the client to identify and understand the family system and the role they play in that system. We also work to identify barriers or unhealthy patterns that may be causing conflict. I allow the client(s) to identify what their goal or ideal resolution is and try to support them in taking steps to making the changes necessary to achieve their goal.
