About Ysabel

Hi, I’m Ysabel! I work with people who are ready for something to change, even if they’re not quite sure what that looks like yet. Maybe your mind feels like it never turns off. Maybe you're constantly second-guessing yourself, overwhelmed by emotions, or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break. Or maybe you're parenting a child who’s anxious, sensitive, or shutting down, and you’re not sure how to help without burning yourself out in the process. Whatever brings you here, I believe therapy should feel like a safe space to take a breath, be honest, and figure things out at your own pace. I specialize in working with anxiety, OCD, trauma, and the hard-to-name stuff that lives in the body even when we’ve tried to think our way through it. I use a mix of mind-body tools, emotional regulation skills, and real conversations to help you or your child build insight, resilience, and lasting change. I’m not here to “fix” you, I’m here to support you in understanding your story, unlearning what no longer fits, and moving toward a version of life that feels more grounded, clear, and true to who you are.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

If you’re unsure about trying therapy, I get it. It can feel like a big step, especially when you don’t know what to expect. What I wish more people knew is that therapy doesn’t have to look one specific way. It’s not always sitting on a couch digging through childhood trauma (unless that’s something you want to explore). Some people talk for almost the full 49 minutes because they finally have a space where they can just breathe and be themselves without fear of judgment. Others need more than words, so we work through emotions with body-based practices, grounding exercises, or somatic release. Sometimes we draw, craft, move around, or pause together in silence. Even if you come in not knowing what you need, that’s okay. You don’t have to have it all figured out. I’m here to help you explore what feels right, and you can always shift directions, whether it’s after five minutes or five sessions. There’s no pressure here. This space is yours. Made to fit you, not the other way around. Therapy can be soft, messy, surprising, playful, deep, or quiet, and it can change from week to week depending on what you need. The most important thing is that you don’t have to go it alone. You’re allowed to show up unsure, and we’ll figure it out together.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

People thinking about working with me should know this: nothing you bring in will be too much. I’ve sat with people through the most painful, confusing, and distressing experiences, whether it's deep trauma, shame, or intrusive thoughts that feel terrifying to say out loud. You don’t have to filter, soften, or protect me from your truth. I can hold it. This space is built to be steady when things feel chaotic, grounding when you feel overwhelmed, and safe when you need to say the things you’ve never said before. Whether you're navigating trauma, OCD, anxiety, or just trying to survive the day-to-day, I’ll meet you where you are, with no judgment and no pressure to be anyone other than yourself. You're not broken. You're not too much. And you don’t have to carry it alone.

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?

Working with me can look a little different each session, depending on what you need that day. Sometimes we’re doing body-based work, like somatic tracking, breathwork, or Brainspotting, to help release what your nervous system has been holding onto. Other times, we’re mapping out cognitive distortions, exploring values, or revisiting a tough memory with compassion through narrative or imaginal exposure. You might find yourself dialoguing with an inner child part, naming something you’ve never said out loud, or simply sitting in silence while we give your body time to speak. We may plan an in-vivo exposure together to face a fear with support, or explore layered identity, grief, or boundaries through art, mapping, or future self visualization. On other days, you might write from a part of you that’s scared, angry, or just tired. We’ll notice what feels true in your body, your thoughts, and your emotions, and work with whatever shows up, whether it’s resistance, tenderness, insight, or overwhelm. And sometimes, it’s as simple as just talking it out, because you don’t have many (or any) places where you feel safe enough to be fully yourself without judgment. This space is for all of you, not just the parts that are easy to show. There’s no one-size-fits-all here. Our work is a collaborative process where you don’t have to perform or figure it all out right away. Some sessions will feel deep and heavy. Others might be playful, reflective, or exploratory. You get to lead, and I help shape the path as we go. The goal is always the same: to help you feel more connected to yourself, your body, your voice, and the life you want to live. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, OCD, burnout, or identity work, therapy with me is about building something that feels both supportive and real, one step at a time.

How does somatic therapy work and how can it help?

Somatic therapy works by helping you reconnect with your body, not just your thoughts. It’s based on the idea that emotions, stress, and trauma aren’t just stored in the mind, but also in the nervous system and physical body. In sessions, we slow down and notice how sensations, tension, or patterns show up, like a tight chest, a clenched jaw, or feeling numb. We use grounding, breathwork, movement, and body awareness to gently release what’s being held and build a sense of safety from the inside out. This kind of therapy can help if you feel stuck in overthinking, disconnected from your emotions, or overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, or stress. It’s not about pushing or forcing anything, just creating space to feel, process, and begin to heal in a way that your whole system can handle. For many people, it’s a powerful way to finally feel relief when talking alone hasn’t been enough.
