I am an intern counselor working towards my Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health Science from Grand Canyon University and have previously worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). As an RBT, I learned how to create therapeutic relationships, abide by ethical standards, and utilize constructive feedback. I have also co-led young adult Bible studies/small groups and in my freetime I enjoy volunteering, working out, and spending time with family and friends. I grew a passion to counsel others through my own experience with mental health and realizing that we can find freedom through our pain. My name is Shira Collings (she/they). I specialize in working with clients with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image distress, and those wanting to break free from diet culture. As a diet culture dropout myself, I am passionate about supporting others in finding freedom with food and body acceptance. I am also passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent folx, as well as those with substance use and trauma histories. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the Health At Every Size paradigm and body liberation. It is also informed by feminism, disability justice, and queer and trans liberation.
