How do you work with clients with pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum issues?
Working with clients during pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum stages is approached with a lot of care, gentleness, and respect for just how big this season of life can feel. It’s a time that can hold excitement and meaning—but also overwhelm, identity shifts, anxiety, and emotional ups and downs that aren’t always talked about openly. At Harbor Relationship & Recovery, therapy during this phase is centered around supporting the whole person—not just managing symptoms, but helping you feel more grounded, understood, and supported as you navigate these changes. We meet you exactly where you are. Whether you’re feeling anxious during pregnancy, struggling after birth, adjusting to a new identity, or noticing shifts in your relationship, therapy becomes a space where you don’t have to hold it all together. Together, we gently work through things like: -Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or fear during pregnancy or postpartum -Mood changes, including sadness, irritability, or feeling unlike yourself -Identity shifts and the pressure to “do everything right” -Changes in your relationship, communication, or sense of connection -Feeling overwhelmed, depleted, or disconnected from yourself Using a blend of supportive, evidence-based approaches, we focus on helping you regulate your nervous system, understand what you’re experiencing, and build tools that actually feel doable in real life—especially in a season where energy and time can feel limited. If you’re in a relationship, we can also support both partners in navigating this transition together helping you communicate more clearly, stay connected, and feel like a team through the changes that come with pregnancy and parenthood. Above all, this work is about creating a space where you feel safe to be honest about your experience—without pressure, without judgment, and without having to minimize what you’re going through. You don’t have to carry it alone, and you don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming to reach out.
