How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients with anxiety, I focus on understanding the root causes and triggers of their anxiety through a thorough assessment. Treatment often includes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge negative thought patterns, mindfulness techniques to promote relaxation, and medication management when necessary. I also work with clients to develop coping strategies that help them manage stress and anxiety in daily life. Throughout the process, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their concerns, feel heard, and gradually regain a sense of control and calm.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Judi uses mindfulness, somatic techniques, and trauma-focused therapy to help clients process anxiety. She creates a safe space to explore emotions and bodily signals, promoting trust and self-awareness.
Welcome! I am a Filipina-Peruvian board-certified Licensed Professional Counselor, and I specialize in intergenerational trauma and understanding how trauma and stress affect the body. To better understand what your body is signaling, I integrate modalities in my practice such as mindfulness-based therapy, somatic techniques, and trauma-conscious approaches. This is an impactful approach to better understanding big and uncomfortable emotions, what the body is communicating, and those teeny, tiny voices of intuition telling us something is off. My goal is to help you begin the process of understanding and connecting with yourself on a deeper level. We’ll work on building trust between your head and heart and explore all the things about your life - cultural identity, relationships, behaviors, values, feelings, and belief systems. Together, we’ll create a foundation that empowers you to feel more integrated and aligned. Specialties Mental Health Conditions treated Relationship issues Trauma Anxiety ADHD Depression Treatment philosophy Whether you may be experiencing BIG feelings, interpersonal struggles, or wanting to better understand yourself, I am here to support you using a collaborative approach. Through a guided process and integration of mindfulness-based and trauma-conscious approaches, you and I will talk through your lived experiences. Some of these discussions will give you a sense of joy, sadness, frustration, anxiousness, pride, and excitement. As we dig and uncover these stories in a safe space, we often begin a discovery of your strengths and wisdom - from a present you and intergenerational standpoint. This experience is almost like when your body constricts and caves into a discomfort and, once ready to release, it expands and grows. Treatment approach Culturally Sensitive Trauma-Focused Emotionally Focused Mindfulness-Based(MBCT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) Practice description As we get curious about your goals, your story, your values, and your beliefs systems, we process through patterns about how you have survived & protected yourself up until this point and how these patterns affect you and your relationships (familial, platonic, and/or romantic) - looking within ourselves and connecting it to finding our space and belonging in the collective. Throughout this journey, my role is to support you in feeling safe, in a space that prioritizes inclusivity, open-mindedness, and authenticity. How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Clients with anxiety are not all the same. No two person experience symptoms in the same way for the same reason. There is no one-sized fits all approach. I tailor everything I do with folks to truly understand the origin of their anxiety. Without doing this it can’t actually get better. Sometimes I work with my group practice partner to teach emotional regulation skills and sometimes we help patients connect with a prescriber if indicated.
Welcome. I’m Dr. Gatta but if we work together please call me David. Good therapy is all about a trusting relationship. Over the course of my 13 year career I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of people from college age students to senior citizens. My passion is helping people understand who they are, where they would like to go in life and what might be preventing those processes. From this standpoint my treatment philosophy is to address underlying causes rather than just symptoms. Doing so is the only way of achieving lasting substantive change. In order to do that I use a holistic approach, meaning I see each individual as a sum of their total life experiences together with their sociocultural contexts.  I have extensive experience working with family of origin issues, trauma, substance abuse, depression and life transitions (including grief and loss). My background is in clinical psychology where my doctoral dissertation explored dreaming as a theoretical form of thinking (cognition). I also have a background in neuroscience and the humanities . I have taught courses on trauma and recovery, addiction, grief and psychopathology.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Anxiety is a physical and mental reaction to some perceived threat. Contrary to popular belief, a small dose of anxiety is helpful. It helps us pay attention to our problems and protects us from danger. However, too much anxiety can cause uncontrollable worry and prohibits us from living our everyday lives. When we feels anxious and choose to avoid whatever causes our anxiety, we feel a sense of temporary relief. However, the next time we are met with the same situation, the anxiety is even worse. Anxiety feeds off of avoidance. One way in which to combat anxiety is to start gradual exposure. This means gradually exposing the client to anxiety provoking situations, breaking the cycle of avoidance, diminishing the anxiety's power over the client.
I am a pre-licensed Mental Health Counselor employed at Cedar Tree Wellness Center. The kind of therapy I provide is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT operates on the principle that our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all linked. What I do in therapy is work with the client to challenge the irrational/negative thoughts that lead to mental conditions such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, etc. So many of us believe that we can solve our problems on your own, sometimes we can. However, there are many of us who require assistance, and that is nothing to be ashamed of. Needing help and asking for it does not make someone weak, it makes them stronger than most.
