Hello, I’m Toby Brans, a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor passionate about helping individuals heal and grow. My work focuses on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported in exploring your challenges and uncovering your strengths. I specialize in working with trauma, grief, anxiety, and ADHD, tailoring therapy to your unique needs and experiences. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University. Over the years, I’ve worked in diverse settings, including prisons, community mental health centers, and private practice. These experiences have shaped my compassionate approach and deepened my understanding of the complexities of human resilience. In therapy, I integrate evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My specialities include the treatment of anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, difficult life transitions and identity exploration, relationship issues, grief/loss and trauma. I’m also experienced in assisting clients in educational/career support to help them obtain their personal goals. Additionally, I have a keen interest in working with individuals of color who experience stress related to marginalization, acculturation and intergenerational conflict. I also have a strong passion for working with mothers through the lifespan of their parenting experience from infertility to wounded relationships with adult children. All stages of maternal mental health and its impacting factors are welcome for exploration.
