About Angela
I am a Board Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in helping individuals cope with the everyday stressors of life, reaching their full potential and seeing themselves in a new light. I have provided therapy to individuals from children to adults. I also have experience providing therapy to adults with cognitive challenges and have used modified treatment strategies to work effectively with that population. I will encourage you to talk about whatever it is you would like to work on to set the pace for your sessions and develop your treatment goals.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
I use different approaches based on individual need, such as dialectal and cognitive interventions, and skills for emotional regulation, specifically for those with cognitive challenges. We can work together using EMDR for those that may benefit from bilateral stimulation in processing events or memories that cause distress. I also utilize narrative therapy techniques for empowerment and to encourage you to give meaning to your unique story. I like to approach our first session using motivational interviewing to address any concerns, establish therapeutic goals and discuss your motivation to engage in therapy.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Working with clients who experience symptoms of anxiety involves creating a safe and supportive space where they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without any judgment. I treat each person as a whole human being—not just a diagnosis. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build skills, feel more grounded, and see themselves in a new light.
How can you provide EMDR remotely?
EMDR can be provided remotely through a secure video platform, using adapted forms of bilateral stimulation moving dots or lights on screen, alternating tones through headphones, or self-tapping or home devices. Adjustments to each method can be made as needed. With proper preparation and tools, remote EMDR can be just as effective as in-person sessions, allowing you to process distressing memories from the comfort of your own environment.
