About Ashley
Welcome! I help individuals and couples make sense of their overwhelm by defining the problem and giving them tools to practice in session. You will also be assigned homework and I will provide you with the resources you need (quizzes, pdf’s, book recommendations, etc) to achieve your goals outside of your session.
I am a licensed social worker and I am trained in marriage and family therapy. What that means is that in therapy we will look at the patterns in your life, your connections with others and the impact of your environment when working toward your goals. I love realness in therapy. I value being honest and direct with you and welcome your honesty and directness as well.

About Me
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Beginnings can be so scary. Wondering if therapy will work, if it's worth the investment, if you'll like your therapist and fearful of the answers you'll uncover for yourself. Speaking both from my experiences as a client and as a therapist, I can tell you that confidence, feeling seen and understanding your needs all lie on the other side of therapy. In session, you will be able to unwind, speak freely, gain clarity, learn new skills and feel that tension in your body start to relax. It won't always feel comfortable, not every session will be wrapped up with a bow. But on the other side of untangling the the complexities of your life will be the empowering assurance that you did this for yourself. You got this!
About Me
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
Curious about what your sessions will look like? Well, let me tell you. After you complete the first session paperwork online, you will have your first session.
In our first session, we will go over the finer details of the paperwork, address any questions and then jump into what is bringing you in. For my couples, we will discuss how the two of you met in addition to what is bringing you into therapy. I also send my couples a Gottman Connect assessment to complete. This assessment will give me a more detailed overview of what is going on for the two of you. You will also receive a pdf of the tools that will be helpful for you given the results of the assessment.
Our second session, we will complete a family map, so that I can understand where your strong and tense relationships are, what major events you have experienced in your life and patterns in family dynamics. We will also discuss your supportive friendships. For couples, I like to do the family maps with one partner at a time, so we can either split this session in half where I meet with one partner for the first half of the session and the other partner the second half of the session. OR I can meet with one partner during the second session and the other partner the third session.
Our third session (0r maybe fourth for couples), we will get specific in setting the goals that you have for therapy.
Throughout these sessions and in the sessions that follow we will also be discussing what is going on for you and what you are currently needing based on what you’re experiencing. I will be giving you tools along the way.
Approaches · Gottman Method
What's your experience with the Gottman method?
If you begin couples counseling with me, you will receive an Gottman Connect assessment from me after the first session. This will help give me snapshot of the areas where you and your partner need support. You will receive a pdf from Gottman Connect of the things that you can work on in your relationship. Then in session, we will practice different Gottman skills for resolving conflict, communicating more effectively, understanding what makes a healthy and stable relationship. I will also give you more resources, so you can remember how to use the skills outside of session.
