Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Bridget began her career in the realm of medical and behavioral health in October 2003. While working as a certified nurse assistant at a community hospital in Boulder, CO, she uncovered her passion for helping others. After 4 years in the medical setting, Bridget made a transition to Denver to complete her Bachelor’s degree and move forward with her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Bridget echo’s what Francis Scott Fitzgerald stated, “For what it’s worth… it’s never too late or, in my case, too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you feel things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.”
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
Bridget comes from a family of 5 siblings, 28 cousins and many aunts and uncles. Her upbringing on the East Coast guides her interest in sailing, swimming, and fishing. She prides herself in taking time for self-care and daily mindfulness practice. Bridget believes each human being has a unique narrative. There is not a universal approach or cookie cutter style to therapy, although working in a session with Bridget will help you to challenge potential irrational beliefs, decrease symptoms that are not "paying rent" in your mind and are utterly intrusive. To collaborate with you is a goal, to uncover a version of yourself is a profound experience you are certain to have working with this professional.
What's your experience with relationship counseling?
Bridget has often been told that working with couples reminds them of the profound versus they have read from books by Brent Brown. Bridget credits that complement to having read and re-read so much literature on love, trust, compassion, etc. that Brene Brown has researched over the past 30 years. Bridget believes in her own personal marriage the same principles discussed should be illustrated one day at a time. Unity is collaborative.
How can you provide care remotely?
Bridget agrees that research to date shows mental health care delivered remotely—also known as telepsychology or teletherapy—is effective. Mental health therapists—along with psychiatrists, social workers and professionals—have built a substantial basis on telehealth interventions that work for a variety of problems and populations. Abraham Maslow stated, “we may define therapy as a search for value.” Bridget does not buy into the idea that value is only obtained in an office setting. Face to face or modem to modem; solutions have various effective channels.
What's your experience with children or adolescents?
“Sometimes it takes dealing with a disability-the trauma, the relearning, the months of rehabilitation therapy-to uncover our true abilities and how we can put them to work for us in ways we may have never imagined.” -Tammy Duckworth Bridget believes that had she not spent years working adolescent residential counseling, PHP, IOP and individual then her pure resiliency would have never been shared with many adolescents and children who so desperately needed someone who really heard and empathized with their events and circumstances.
