Welcome. Are you struggling to set boundaries? Do you find yourself pouring far more into relationships than you receive? Do you find yourself drained, exhausted, and perhaps even resentful towards your loved ones? Our relationships can have a profound effect on our mental health, and our mental health and upbringing often impact how we behave in relationships. I love working with people with anxiety, social anxiety, complex trauma, or depression on improving relationships with themselves and others. And before I was a therapist, I was a birth doula, so I especially love working with pregnant and postpartum people.

What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
"Anxiety is my favorite!"- me to coworkers. At my job at a large mental health agency, it quickly became known that I love working with clients who struggle with anxiety. I find my unique combination of CBT, narrative, and contextual therapy to be especially useful for anxiety. I have experience with many subtypes of anxiety, including but not limited to: generalized anxiety, social anxiety, postpartum anxiety, OCD, body dysmorphia, and illness anxiety.
What's your experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?
I love CBT! I find it personally and professionally useful. I frequently incorporate CBT into treatment planning. It is a wonderful modality for building coping skills. I often talk about "controlling the controllables," such as our automatic negative thoughts and our use of coping skills. However, as a systemic therapist, I know it is undeniable that FAR more than our thoughts impact our mental health! Our relationships, family histories, racism, gender, sexuality, trauma history, finances, access to healthcare, and real-world stressors such as the pandemic impact our mental health. For this reason, I also incorporate contextual therapy and narrative therapy as I find these modalities helpful for promoting deep, meaningful, transformative healing.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
This answer could easily be 10 pages long! Here is the simplest way: I was fortunate to have an extremely positive therapy experience as a client. It was transformative. I had considered becoming a therapist previously, but before that therapeutic relationship, it was not something that seemed possible. My symptoms and my context had me on a different path where I was essentially immobilized. It was difficult to even identify my true values and desires, let alone pursue them or express them to others. I love working with clients who are in that "stuck" place.
What motivates me to continue is that therapy creates real change. Change looks different for everyone, and sometimes change is slow, but I have no doubt in my mind that change happens. Healing is real. It is humbling seeing my clients transform. It is humbling watching them begin to see their strengths. It is humbling to see them meet their goals.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Reaching out to a therapist is a big step. It is a financial investment, and it is also an emotional investment. I would like to tell you that you are not stuck. This your healing journey, this is your mind and your life, and you are always free to speak up or change therapists if something is not working for you. I would encourage you to set up a free 15-minute consultation call to ask any questions you may have and determine if we are a good fit.
How can you provide care remotely?
I have been working remotely since March 2020. I find remote therapy is actually preferable for some clients. Many parents express it is beneficial to eliminate travel time. Many introverted, highly sensitive (HSP) clients express it is easier to open up when in the comfort of their own space. I offer my Telehealth services on the HIPAA-compliant platform Doxy.me. I strive to provide the same level of care via Telehealth as in-person.
