I believe everyone tries their best, but sometimes life can be challenging. How we connect with safe people and places when we’re young affects how we handle our emotions as we grow up. When we lack stability and security, it can be hard to function well. I am dedicated to helping adolescents, couples, and families find trust and safety in their relationships.
My experience includes Marriage and Family Counseling, Individual Counseling, School Counseling, Community Counseling, and Treatment for Opioid Addiction. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and Virginia, as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
I specialize in addressing relational issues in marriages, couples, families, and individuals. How does couples therapy work and how can it help?
Couples therapy involves working with both partners to address relational issues and improve their relationship. It typically includes exploring communication patterns, understanding each other's needs and perspectives, and developing healthier ways to interact. Therapy can help by providing tools to resolve conflicts, enhance emotional connection, and build trust and understanding. The goal is to create a stronger, more supportive partnership where both individuals feel valued and heard.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
I work with clients with anxiety by using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and develop coping strategies. We explore the root causes of anxiety, create a plan to manage symptoms, and work on building resilience and relaxation techniques. My approach is personalized, focusing on helping clients gain control over their anxiety and improve their overall well-being.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I believe in the power of connection and the importance of safety and stability in relationships. I've seen how challenges in life, especially those stemming from a lack of secure attachments, can significantly impact one's ability to function and thrive. This understanding drives my passion for helping adolescents, couples, and families build trust and safety in their relationships, which I believe is foundational for emotional well-being.
What motivates me to continue is the profound impact that therapy can have on people's lives. I am dedicated to creating a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. Witnessing the transformation that occurs when individuals and families work through their struggles and build healthier relationships is incredibly rewarding. My goal is to help people lead more fulfilling lives, and knowing that I can play a part in their journey toward healing and growth keeps me committed to this work every day.
How do you work with clients with depression?
With clients experiencing depression, I use a combination of approaches to address their unique needs. This often includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and reframe negative thinking patterns, as well as exploring underlying issues and developing coping strategies. We work together to set realistic goals, build routines, and enhance self-care. My aim is to help clients find hope, improve their mood, and develop skills to manage and overcome depressive symptoms.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I would tell them that therapy is a safe space where they can feel heard and understood without judgment. It's an opportunity to build healthier relationships and gain tools to navigate life's challenges. Everyone deserves support, and therapy can be a powerful step towards healing and personal growth.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
People considering working with me should know that I am dedicated to creating a supportive and safe environment where you can feel heard and understood. My approach is personalized and relational, focusing on attachment-based interventions to help you build stability and healthier relationships. I bring experience in diverse counseling settings and am committed to supporting you through challenges with empathy and transparency.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me are collaborative and supportive, focused on creating a safe space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions. I use a variety of approaches tailored to your unique needs, including attachment-based, trauma-focused, and relational therapies. We'll work together to explore your challenges and build healthier relationships, aiming for stability, security, and personal growth.
How can you provide care remotely?
I provide remote care through secure video conferencing platforms, ensuring a private and confidential space for our sessions. This allows you to receive support from the comfort of your own home, making it easier to fit therapy into your schedule and access care regardless of location. Remote sessions are conducted with the same level of professionalism and care as in-person meetings.
