About Justin

Welcome. My name is Justin Wilson. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist. I became a therapist because I was fascinated by the idea that something as low-tech as conversation could legitimately lessen people's suffering. I consider myself fortunate to be in a line of work that offers me opportunities for meaningful interactions with complete strangers, from many walks of life. I started Only Human Psychotherapy because I wanted to offer quality therapy, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance that allows me to remain present with my patients. I offer telehealth therapy to individual adults across Colorado using a psychodynamic approach. I’m a generalist who is open to working with a variety of presenting problems or diagnoses. I graduated from Newman University’s Master of Social Work program with an emphasis on clinical practice and trauma-informed care. To provide quality treatment, I engage in professional consultation and mentorship. I am student of at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research where I study psychodynamic psychotherapy.

How does psychodynamic therapy work, and what do sessions look like?

Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talk therapy that explores how your past experiences, relationships, emotions, and patterns of thinking may influence the way you experience yourself and others today. Through conversation, we work together to develop a deeper understanding of what may be contributing to your current concerns and identify patterns that may be difficult to recognize on your own. Sessions are collaborative and conversational, with space for you to talk openly about what is happening in your life, your relationships, and your internal experience. Rather than following a rigid script, our conversations are guided by what feels most meaningful and relevant to you. Over time, the goal is to develop greater self-understanding and create opportunities for meaningful change.
Specialties · Borderline Personality (BPD)

What's your approach to borderline personality disorder (BPD), and what does progress look like for clients?

I approach borderline personality disorder with curiosity, compassion, and an emphasis on understanding the experiences and patterns underlying a person's struggles. From a psychodynamic perspective, therapy can provide a space to explore emotions, relationships, self-image, and recurring patterns while developing a deeper understanding of how these experiences may be connected. Because I am a generalist therapist, I work with a variety of presenting concerns and diagnoses and tailor treatment to each individual. Progress can look different for everyone, but may involve developing greater insight into emotional and relationship patterns, feeling more grounded in your sense of self, and developing a greater capacity to understand and navigate difficult experiences. Therapy is collaborative and paced according to the individual's needs and goals.
