About Sam
As a therapist, I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment to look at the inner workings of yourself and also process the various things that impact your life on an individual and structural level. I’ve worked across levels of care, including IOP and inpatient hospital settings, supporting teens and adults of various backgrounds navigating mental health challenges, trauma, and dual diagnoses. My background in trauma-informed case management with immigrants and refugees and research on women of color at predominantly White institutions shapes my systems-aware, culturally responsive approach in addition to my lived experience.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I believe we don’t only heal on our own but in relationship with others. The therapeutic relationship can be one of the most healing relationships, providing a space for vulnerability, humor, growth, and radical acceptance. It is an honor to be a witness to the evolution of one's journey of self-discovery. I want to be there for the highs and lows and everything in between.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
My practice is holistic, meaning that I draw upon many therapeutic approaches and theories that address mind, body, and spiritual wellness. I support various types of clients, including BIPOC and queer adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, life transitions, and the complexities of racial and LGBTQ+ identity.
