My first career was in fine art reproduction where I worked with art buyers and galleries on an international level. I had no idea that in 2015 I would change careers and become a therapist. Clients say that therapy with me feels like a simple conversation. Couples therapy is my favorite type of clients but I currently work with anyone over the age of 13 unless they are seen for family therapy. I have five kids myself and have seen the ugly side of divorce. My belief is that we are all one decision away from something better.

You can’t change what you aren’t aware of, and it’s hard to notice what’s keeping you stuck when you’re in the middle of it. Maybe it’s anxiety that doesn’t let up, the weight of a relationship ending, conflict in your family, or patterns you don’t fully understand but keep repeating that can leave you drained and unsure of what comes next. Together, we’ll make sense of these struggles and create a path toward healing and clarity.  I use approaches that help you notice patterns, understand how your experiences and relationships shape the present, and separate yourself from unhelpful stories. We’ll build coping skills and practice new ways of responding. I draw on research and evidence-based practices while keeping the work centered on what matters most to you. Sometimes you sense that something needs to shift, but the way forward isn’t clear. Reaching out can be the first step in making that change feel possible. Dr. Rea is a licensed psychologist in Kansas and has an office in Tonganoxie, KS. He received his PhD from the University of Kansas and has worked in the prison system until starting his private practice in late 2022.

I have over 25 years of combined clinical and administrative experience committed to helping clients learn healthy coping skills to manage the stressors of daily life and to improve their well-being. My work focuses on helping clients challenge ineffective thoughts, habits, and beliefs to move towards increased life satisfaction. I am passionate about helping those with anxiety, trauma, depression, health conditions, and life transitions move towards creating and maintaining emotional wellness.
