Hello there! My name is Grace and I am so glad you’re here! I have experience working with adolescents in the school based setting and have experience helping clients address challenges with, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodivergence, people pleasing, perfectionism, and women’s issues. My therapeutic approach is integrative, pulling from modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, existentialism, and person centered. I love to implement creativity, humour, and authenticity into the therapy space in hopes that it can soften the anxiety and apprehension that many individuals may face when it comes to therapy. I believe in creating a safe space for marginalized identities and employing a social justice and feminist framework. When working with clients, I like to meet them where they are, work collaboratively, and provide them with the support and guidance they need in order to achieve their goals. NOPE. Not doing it anymore… after going through the usual motions of your everyday routine, you decided that you deserve more! You deserve to be free from the wounds of your past and to live a life of contentment. Unfortunately, “healing” isn’t always sunshine and rainbows; rather, it’s our choosing to dance in the downpour. And grow our flowers in the rain (actually, that one was a joke… I can barely keep a succulent alive – true story – but you get the idea!) You’ve decided that you are ready to heal the wounds of your past. Great! But now what? HOW do I do that? Well, there are many ways to begin healing. Some include healing in a physical sense (known as somatic healing), others emphasize mental and emotional healing, and some focus on spiritual healing. While I collaborate with clients to create a plan that works best for their goals, I work from the philosophy that an integrative approach (healing that encompasses mind, body, and spirit) provides the best opportunity for root-level healing. Providing my services via telehealth, I (virtually) come to you to provide encouragement and support for this process to occur. With that being said, I am only an assistant in this journey… you guide this process, at your pace, and in the direction you desire. I am equipped with various tools, knowledge, and therapeutic types/approaches (such as EMDR Therapy – yes, the eye movement thing) that can be individualized to meet your needs! My goal, as your counselor, is to assist in your growth and healing. There will be moments of mountain-conquered success, frustration in the valleys, and rocky bumps along the way, but what matters most is the intentional, daily desire to continue on this healing journey… regardless of the terrain. Hi, I’m Leigh (pronounced Lee). I’m a clinical social worker based in Honolulu, HI and licensed in all 50 states. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. CBT helps clients recognize that it’s not necessarily the things that happen to us that cause us to struggle, but how we think about these things. When we learn that our first reactions to difficult subjects may be limiting, we can work to change and grow our perspectives. Subsequently, this allows us to feel differently and cope in more helpful ways. As a therapist who loves to travel, I’ve lived in many places in the US (including the Southeast, DMV, Midwest, PNW, and now Hawaii) and have traveled extensively outside the US. I strive to understand cultures I’m not familiar with and have been honored to learn and hold space for clients from many different walks of life. I enjoy working with clients to meet their goals. I view therapy as an active process, where my clients learn skills and tools that allow them to achieve their goals and flourish in their lives. I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 1989 from New York University. I have experience working with adults and adolescents in school, psychiatric inpatient and outpatient settings. My clinical focus has been predominantly working with women with eating disorders and related issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, self esteem, identity and body image. My general approach is psychodynamic at it’s foundation. Over the course of my career, I have trained in several additional approaches that have also come to inform my work. I have training and experience in Family-Based Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Mindfulness Meditiation. I am a very active, engaged therapist who brings compassion and passion for the work. You will not just hear me asking, “how does that make you feel”. I will be actively providing insights and interpretations to help you to see that which you cannot on your own. Together, as a team, we partner to help you move beyond the “stuckness” that has brought you into therapy.
