How does dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) work, and what do sessions look like?
DBT is a practical, skills-based approach that can help you better understand and manage difficult emotions, navigate relationships, and respond to stressful situations in healthier ways. In sessions, we may explore patterns that are contributing to distress while building skills related to mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I tailor DBT to your individual needs and combine it with other approaches when helpful, creating a supportive space where you can develop tools that feel realistic and useful in your everyday life.
I’m a queer, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who provides a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for teens and adults to explore what they’re experiencing and move toward meaningful change. I work with clients navigating trauma and complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and questions around identity and personal growth. My goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered as you develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
