Licensed Clinical Social Worker

What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
I specialize in therapy for individuals with anxiety. It is the most common diagnosis that I treat and I have worked with a diverse group of clients with a variety of anxiety issues: panic, social phobia, intrusive thoughts, performance anxiety, general anxiety, adjustment issues, etc. I help my clients understand their anxiety better, learn to more effectively process their anxiety and teach strategies for coping with anxiety that really work.
I'm a clinical social worker with 10 years of experience. I have a upbeat, creative, warm and non-judgmental personality which clients report make it easy and natural to open up to me. I believe that therapy is an avenue to self improvement, healing and transformation. I see myself as a guide who supports clients in their journey of personal and emotional growth. I help clients become more self-aware, improve self regulation and coping skills, heal from previous stressful/traumatic experiences, enhance their communication skills, and understand their emotions at a deeper level. I see clients across the lifespan and provide counseling to children, adolescents and adults. I use traditional counseling techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy, as well as complementary therapy approaches such as mindfulness and meditation to help clients work towards greater happiness. Please reach out to me via email, phone call or text if you are interested in becoming a new client. I respond to texts and e-mails within 24 hours. Once we connect, I will set up the 15 minute phone consultation to discuss my availability, answer questions, and help you determine if working with me is a good fit for you and your goals.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Our team draws on a wealth of expertise and experience in effective cognitive and behavioral treatments. The approaches we utilize most often are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy called Exposure Therapy or Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Through these approaches, clients learn to modify unhelpful patterns of thinking; reduce undesirable behavior patterns (such as avoidance, anxious behaviors, or procrastination); and gradually confront and master the situations, activities, objects, and memories that cause anxiety. Where appropriate, we integrate mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help clients cope more effectively with difficult thoughts, feelings, and situations. We will work closely with you to custom-tailor treatment and identify the combination of strategies, principles, and tools most likely to work for you based on your particular problems, needs, and goals. For clients with certain problems and needs, we also draw upon in-depth training in more specialized cognitive-behavioral treatments, including: - Habit Reversal Training (HRT) for trichotillomania and excoriation disorders - Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB) for trichotillomania and excoriation disorders - Prolonged Exposure (PE) for trauma and PTSD - Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD Behavioral Activation (BA) for depression - Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) Therapy for generalized anxiety - Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training
