Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I spent many years adjusting my style and personality to make others happy. This led to confusion, destructive behaviors, insecurities, and people-pleasing. One day, I decided to embrace what I believed others may have perceived as flaws and imperfections by viewing them as superpowers. I accepted that my need for validation is not "bad" versus thinking that "I'm too much" or "it isn't that serious." I became unapologetic, expecting validation for my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I experienced this revelatory moment during therapy. Following my light bulb experience, I needed to create a safe space for others who struggle mentally and emotionally but mask it with performative behaviors!
