How does internal family systems (IFS) work and how can it help?
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a therapeutic approach that helps people understand the different “parts” of themselves that may show up in everyday life. For example, one part may feel anxious and try to stay in control, another may feel hurt or ashamed, and another may try to avoid pain altogether. IFS works from the idea that these parts are not bad; they often develop to protect us, especially after stress, trauma, or painful life experiences. In therapy, clients learn to notice these inner parts with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment, while also connecting with their core self, the calm and grounded inner capacity for healing. IFS can help by making it easier to understand emotional patterns, reduce inner conflict, and heal wounds that may be driving anxiety, depression, trauma responses, relationship struggles, or low self-worth. As clients build a healthier relationship with their inner world, they often feel more balanced, self-aware, and empowered in their daily lives. Over time, IFS can support deeper emotional healing by helping people move away from shame and self-criticism and toward greater clarity, self-compassion, and lasting change.

Hi there, I am so glad you're here. I understand how daunting it can be to take steps towards healing. Perhaps you feel misunderstood by the people around you. Or perhaps you are accustomed to confronting problems on your own, without the help of others. Whatever you might be facing, I want to assure you that you are not alone. I am honored to walk alongside you as you step outside of your comfort zone to embark on your journey to growth and self-discovery. I offer warm and collaborative therapy to individuals and couples who are seeking to work through past traumas, difficult emotions, communication, and challenges with identity. My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I strive to create a space where you are able to be your authentic self and explore the nooks and crannies of your internal world. If you are seeking a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your inner world, I will be there to hold and support every part of you as we put the pieces together. As your therapist, I can help you re-discover and make peace with the parts of yourself that were overlooked and perhaps pushed away due to past traumas or challenges with self-identity. In working together, you can begin to redefine yourself in ways that feel empowering, authentic, and aligned. Whatever it may be, you are not alone in your journey. The most important thing for you to know about me is that I care about supporting my community(s), and I'll care about supporting you. I'll meet you where you're at, and support you in meeting your goals, as long as you're committed to meeting them. I work with groups, couples, families, and individuals ages 13-80. I'm passionate about: * being a resource to individuals, regardless of race, class, or creed. * being a resource to underserved and disenfranchised communities - including BIPOc communities. * Supporting interracial couples, and multi-ethnic families. I have an integrative approach, and love to incorporate the following therapy models/modalities in practice:  * Internal Family Systems  * Emotion Focused Therapy * Narrative Therapy * Motivational Interviewing (Theory of Change) I believe change happens when people are witnessed 3 times: in conflict, in recovery, and in proximity to an ideal version of themself. I believe we move forward after all of the "best and worst parts" of us are seen, and reminded they are capable of being validated, safe, healed, and loved. I support those are ready to navigate change with: * family conflict * phase of life changes  * grief * depression * anxiety * conflict with boundaries * couples and intimacy related issues. * Cross-cultural relationship issues If any of this resonates with you, reach out for a consultation: (213) 973-8278. I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
