I'm a licensed psychologist that specialize in evidence-based practices drawn from CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based theories to help clients explore difficult emotions, challenge harmful thought patterns, and better manage stress and anxiety. As a proud two-time HBCU graduate from Spelman College and Howard University, I bring a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience gained from working in diverse settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and virtually-based mental healthcare. My work also extends to specialized populations, such as individuals with eating disorders and developmental challenges like Autism and ADHD. I am a warm, caring therapist with a sense of humor and extensive experience working with adolescents and adults. I specialize in helping men with problems resulting from anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties at home, work and in school. That being said, I enjoy working with clients from all genders and backgrounds. As a clinical psychologist I have extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and have seen many clients improve with these techniques. I have helped people overcome their problems in a variety of settings including university counseling centers, community mental health clinics, hospitals, and schools.

My experience has been gained through various positions in the field of nursing as a registered nurse in the occupational, long term acute care, and psychiatric/mental health before moving into the role of a health care provider. I am a committed and hardworking individual with excellent communication and prioritization skills. I believe in being proactive and I am excellent at setting and attaining work related goals. Hello, My name is Justin Hughes and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Idaho. I have been in the mental health field for over 9 years. I have been able to help people from ages 12 to 65 address mental health needs. I have helped people learn to address diagnosis and live full and health lives. I can help you too.

I focus on helping people with chronic pain and chronic illness to regain control over their lives. Chronic pain and illness can take a major toll on the whole person- mood, relationships, work, sleep- the list goes on and on. When it starts to feel like pain or illness are impacting all parts of your life, it can lead to depression, sadness, worry, and loneliness; talking with a therapist who understands both the emotional and physical parts can help. In addition to my work with chronic pain and chronic illness, I also work with people going through the process of cancer treatment and recovery, as well as people with insomnia. I am a Board Certified Clinical Health Psychologist with years of experience helping those with medical conditions AND I myself live with a a chronic illness. My personal connection to this work is what makes me passionate about helping others dealing with pain and illness to live a full, meaningful life even with physical challenges.
