How do you work with clients with addiction?
My approach to addiction involves a multifaceted strategy that combines evidence-based medical interventions with comprehensive psychotherapeutic support. I prioritize establishing a therapeutic alliance built on trust and empathy to create a safe space for clients to explore their struggles with addiction. This includes conducting thorough assessments to understand the individual's unique needs and circumstances, including any underlying mental health conditions or trauma history. I offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate, alongside various psychotherapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Collaborative goal-setting and ongoing monitoring are key components of treatment, allowing for personalized interventions that support sustained recovery.
Greetings! I'm Dr. Joshua Werblin, a dedicated psychiatrist with a compassionate approach to care. My practice is a sanctuary for individuals of all ages seeking mental wellness. My journey began at The University of Chicago, where I delved into the fundamentals of society and its utopian ideals. I took a somewhat circuitous path from there, working in different fields for nearly a decade before starting to study for my medical degree (M.D.) at Tulane University School of Medicine. During those ten years, I worked variously as a biophysicist, wooden boatbuilder, IT support, astrophysics technical work, and an Auxiliary NYPD officer in Harlem. I completed a Pediatrics Internship at Tulane University, followed by a narrower focus in General Psychiatry Residency training, also at Tulane. I then received subspecialty fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, followed by the acquisition of Addiction Psychiatry sub-specialization some years later. My career has been diverse, including roles as an Inpatient Psychiatrist, Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist, and several Outpatient Psychiatry positions in New York, Florida, and Maryland. More than half of my career has been spent serving the most underserved and marginalized populations, such as youth and women rescued from the sex trade, runaway youth, homeless families, LGBTQIA++ populations, and undocumented immigrants. Since 2019, I've been proudly serving as 'The Feelings Doctor' in my solo virtual practice, offering psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and those facing addiction challenges. My commitment to you is simple: to provide empathetic, individualized, evidence-based care that supports your unique journey toward mental health wellness, whether or not you choose to use medications along the way. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and embrace the path to healing and fulfillment.

How do you work with clients with addiction?
When working with clients facing addiction, I take a nonjudgmental, trauma-informed, and holistic approach. I understand that addiction is often a response to pain, not just a behavioral issue. My role is to help clients explore the underlying factors contributing to their substance use—such as trauma, mental health conditions, or life stressors—while supporting their journey toward recovery. Treatment may include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate, alongside individual therapy, relapse prevention planning, and connection to community resources or support groups. I also integrate evidence-based approaches like motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients build insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and sustain long-term recovery. Above all, I create a safe, respectful space where clients feel empowered, understood, and supported—no matter where they are in their recovery process.
My name is Carline Jean-Philippe. I’m a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of experience in healthcare. I specialize in treating a wide range of mental health and primary care conditions across the lifespan. I am passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive care through both in-person and telemedicine services.

How do you work with clients with addiction?
I prioritize creating a supportive and engaging therapeutic environment. Using evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I work collaboratively with clients to identify negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to their depression. By challenging these patterns and developing coping strategies, clients can gain a sense of control and empowerment over their emotions. Additionally, I integrate supportive therapy techniques to provide emotional validation and encouragement throughout the treatment process. My client-centered approach ensures that each individual feels heard, understood, and supported as they navigate their journey towards healing and recovery from depression.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner. I treat clients across the lifespan and a sub-specialization in child and adolescents and addiction medicine. I make the experience a positive, supportive, and at times fun one. I am very clinical but I remove the "clinical feeling" from the experience. I am very client-focused and develop unique treatment plans that actually help them achieve their goals. I treat numerous areas of psychiatry including, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, PTSD and Trauma, Family/Couples therapy, sleep and appetite, Schizophrenia, OCD, ODD, personality, and eating disorders and addiction. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and supportive therapy. I learn about each individual client and learn my client's "story" so as to understand where they have been, where they are, and where they need/want to go. I also get to the "why" for each client, which is oftentimes the most important question. I utilize humor and my clients engage particularly well. My clients often say I should do standup psychiatry. My clients oftentimes ask me how I know them so well. I am famous for actively listening. My clients feel they receive my clinical expertise without feeling the clinical aspects of what one may expect in psychiatry. I am highly supportive and provide relevant health education. I utilize a team-based approach. I don't speak at my clients I speak with them. Anxiety in anticipation of the "first meeting" will be replaced by feeling more relaxed, comfortable, in a better mood, and more confident after the meeting than prior to it. They can also expect that their needs will be addressed and feel they have been "heard" by me. I am different than most in this regard as I treat my patients as I would a family member, and they can definitely feel it.
