How do you work with clients with anxiety?
My approach to working with clients with anxiety involves a holistic understanding of their symptoms and individual circumstances. I prioritize building a therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, validation, and active listening, allowing clients to feel heard and understood. Evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions, are integrated into treatment plans based on the client's preferences and needs. These modalities help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, confront avoidance behaviors, and develop effective coping skills to manage anxiety symptoms. In addition to psychotherapy, medication management may be considered for clients with moderate to severe anxiety, with a focus on selecting the most appropriate and effective pharmacological interventions while minimizing side effects and risks.
Greetings! I'm Dr. Joshua Werblin, a dedicated psychiatrist with a compassionate approach to care. My practice is a sanctuary for individuals of all ages seeking mental wellness. My journey began at The University of Chicago, where I delved into the fundamentals of society and its utopian ideals. I took a somewhat circuitous path from there, working in different fields for nearly a decade before starting to study for my medical degree (M.D.) at Tulane University School of Medicine. During those ten years, I worked variously as a biophysicist, wooden boatbuilder, IT support, astrophysics technical work, and an Auxiliary NYPD officer in Harlem. I completed a Pediatrics Internship at Tulane University, followed by a narrower focus in General Psychiatry Residency training, also at Tulane. I then received subspecialty fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, followed by the acquisition of Addiction Psychiatry sub-specialization some years later. My career has been diverse, including roles as an Inpatient Psychiatrist, Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist, and several Outpatient Psychiatry positions in New York, Florida, and Maryland. More than half of my career has been spent serving the most underserved and marginalized populations, such as youth and women rescued from the sex trade, runaway youth, homeless families, LGBTQIA++ populations, and undocumented immigrants. Since 2019, I've been proudly serving as 'The Feelings Doctor' in my solo virtual practice, offering psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and those facing addiction challenges. My commitment to you is simple: to provide empathetic, individualized, evidence-based care that supports your unique journey toward mental health wellness, whether or not you choose to use medications along the way. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and embrace the path to healing and fulfillment.

Assess, establish rapport, and provide education to clients who are nervous. Make use of relaxation, mindfulness, and CBT. A patient-centered approach would address lifestyle, take medication into account, set reasonable goals, and keep up regular follow-ups.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When it comes to anxiety, I understand how overwhelming and isolating it can feel. My approach to working with anxiety is rooted in compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of how anxiety impacts not just the mind but also the body and spirit. Together, we’ll explore the roots of your anxiety—whether it’s triggered by specific events, past experiences, or patterns in your thoughts and behaviors. We’ll work to understand the unique ways your body responds to stress and how you can learn to navigate these responses with more ease and self-compassion. Here’s how we can approach anxiety together: Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: We’ll use mindfulness practices, breathwork, and grounding exercises to help you stay present and calm when anxiety arises. These tools help create a sense of control and safety in moments of overwhelm. Cognitive and Emotional Exploration: We’ll gently explore your thought patterns and how they fuel anxiety. By identifying negative or unhelpful beliefs, we can reframe and shift the way you perceive situations, helping reduce stress and worry. Somatic Awareness: Anxiety often lives in the body. We may explore how physical tension, breath patterns, or nervous system responses are tied to your anxiety, and work together to help your body feel more relaxed and balanced. Building Coping Strategies: You’ll gain practical tools for managing anxiety in everyday situations—whether it’s dealing with work stress, social anxiety, or fear of the future. We’ll also focus on building resilience so you can face life’s challenges with more confidence. Holistic Support: Depending on your needs, I may integrate other holistic practices (like energy work, meditation, or nature-based healing) to address the mind-body connection and help you find a deeper sense of peace. Healing anxiety is not about eliminating all stress, but about finding balance and learning to navigate life with greater ease and presence. My goal is to help you reconnect with your inner calm, regain control over your thoughts, and trust in your ability to handle what comes your way.
