How does trauma focused therapy work and how can it help?
Trauma-focused therapy helps you gently understand how painful or overwhelming experiences may still be affecting your thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, and sense of safety. Rather than forcing you to relive everything, we work at a pace that feels manageable and supportive. Together, we may explore coping skills, emotional regulation, grounding techniques, and ways to process painful experiences so they feel less consuming. Over time, trauma-focused therapy can help you feel more stable, empowered, and connected to yourself again.
Hey there, welcome! My name is Lydia Anthony, LPC (#85822). Through Rejoice in the Rain Counseling, I provide individual (1:1) online therapy to adults in Texas and Vermont. Maybe you feel... Powerless against the whirlpool of rapid changes. Drowned by the downpour of fear, worry, and anxiety. Like it's hard to see beyond the dark clouds of depression. Swept away by the waves of hurt, regret, and guilt. Or caught up in a cyclone of self-doubt and insecurity. Let me be your companion through the rain into a new chapter of your life! Becoming a counselor wasn’t just a career choice for me; it was a journey inspired by my own lived experiences, which formed the philosophy that drives my practice: a belief that things will get better, but even in the rain, you can find meaning, inspiration, and beauty. Whether you’re looking for extra support during a difficult time or simply seeking personal growth, know that you’re not alone. A space of care, calm, and compassion awaits you.

How does trauma focused therapy work and how can it help?
Trauma-focused therapy helps by creating a safe space to process painful experiences, reduce distressing symptoms, and restore a sense of control. Using approaches like CBT, EMDR, or mindfulness, it guides clients in facing trauma at their own pace, building coping skills, and fostering healing and resilience.
My path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. Over the years, I have experienced grief, loss, divorce, trauma, abuse, and major life transitions in my own journey. These experiences not only shaped my understanding of suffering but also deepened my heart for walking with others who find themselves in painful or uncertain seasons. I know firsthand how overwhelming life can feel, and I also see the hope and restoration that can come through faith, healing, and connection. In addition to my personal journey, I have spent many years as a social worker in the hospice field, supporting individuals and families through end-of-life care, loss, and the grieving process. These experiences deepened my calling to create a safe and compassionate space for people in their most vulnerable moments. They also strengthened my belief that healing is possible even in seasons of sorrow, especially when we lean on faith and community. Today, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I specialize in supporting individuals through grief, loss, trauma, relationship struggles, and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and faith-centered—grounded in the belief that every person is created in God’s image and deeply loved by Him. At Connect & Restore Therapy, I blend evidence-based practices with Christian values, offering a safe space where you can process your story, rediscover your strength, and move forward with clarity and peace. It is my privilege to walk alongside you, not only as a therapist but also as someone who has walked through valleys and experienced God’s grace and renewal firsthand. Together, we can lean into hope and pursue the healing and restoration God desires for your life. As Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

How does trauma focused therapy work and how can it help?
Trauma focused therapy goes at whatever pace you feel comfortable going. It helps by identifying what your brain has been unable to process on your own, then "reprocessing" through EMDR therapy. You will learn how to cope with you triggers and the hope is to decrease triggers all together.
Allie received her Bachelor of Science in Youth Advocacy from Texas Christian University and graduated with her Masters in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. At Bayou City Counseling, she works with teens and adults struggling with anxiety, grief, OCD, and those facing relationship issues. Allie is trained in EMDR and is passionate about working with clients who have experienced trauma, abuse, and PTSD. Allie has a special place in her heart for postpartum moms, those dealing with church hurt, or who have a toxic inner critic. Allie is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator and enjoys working with dating, engaged and married couples. Allie is also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and has clinical experience in non-profit and private practice settings. She believes that change and freedom can come from a safe, therapeutic relationship. Allie has seen that by sharing practical coping skills, processing one’s past, and understanding their present, clients can have hope for the future! Outside of the office, Allie enjoys reading, walking in Buffalo Bayou Park with her husband, Chase, and golden-doodle, Cooper.
