For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Standing on the sidelines of life is painful and not believing in yourself only helps to hold you back. There is so much power in learning how to offer yourself more compassion, acceptance and love as you work toward a stronger sense of self. There’s no better time than right now, so let’s take the next step toward your goals together.
To the world you appear to be thriving, but internally you feel anxious, overwhelmed and exhausted by self-doubt. You're tired of questioning everything about yourself. You're ready to stop worrying about what others think of you. You just want to feel good enough and sure about who you are. You want to trust yourself to make your own choices. Most of all, you want to get to the root of your anxiety so that you can feel confident in your ability to face life's challenges. No matter what you're going through, I invite you to join me in a safe space of reflection and support along your journey to becoming your most confident self. I specialize in helping teens and adults to develop the confidence and skills they need to overcome anxiety and self-doubt. I often work with high school students, college students, and ambitious individuals who have a desire to unlock their fullest potential and accomplish meaningful life goals. My goal is for you to recognize and trust your own strengths.

Therapy is support. At times it's difficult to ask for support because we've told ourselves we can "handle it" or even have fears of "being a burden." First off--Of COURSE you can "handle it." You can keep doing what you're doing and survive day after day. But there is more than daily survival. There is thriving with joy, satisfaction, and confidence. As for that burden thing--that just doesn't apply in counseling. It's the opposite. You're learning to be in control of your life in new ways. A truly admirable journey. Simply: Therapy includes laughing, crying, yelling, silence, and everything else that is natural in life. Instead of coping in ways that no longer work. We will work together to create new reactions and patterns to maximize your daily experience.
HI! I’M MAGGIE DICKENS (SHE/HER/HERS).I’M INTERESTED IN PUSHING THROUGH WHAT WE’VE ALL BEEN TOLD ABOUT PAIN.THE PHYSICAL. THE EMOTIONAL. As a Texas based licensed professional counselor, I know there is more life for you to live. Now, I am sure you’ve thought this too..but that was before. Before the hurting seemed to take over. Before your life began to revolve around fears of planning ahead and letting yourself and others down because you’re having, yet another, “bad day.” I am here to tell you that all those thoughts swirling around your mind, keeping you up at night, saying you “can’t”, or are focused on “what was” … are, well, simply-- they’re outdated. Perhaps at one time or another there may have been some truth in there, somewhere. But today, by reading this, seeking out counseling, you’re already telling those pesky, annoying, overwhelming, thoughts-- that you recognize there is more to life. This is where I come in. My role is one of “guard rails.” You know the life you’re ready to live. I am here to help you pave the road for your success. Counseling with me is one that is collaborative and is built on mutual understanding, respect, and commitment to show up and do what needs to be done. Some of that work includes purposeful discussions to change those beliefs that keep you overwhelmed and education for you to learn how to maximize your life AND thoughts, feelings, actions! My favorite tool to use in counseling is clinical hypnosis. Basically, because it’s proven to enhance client outcomes, reduce length of treatment, and is a tool you will be able to use throughout the rest of your life. When you’re ready to push through the stuckness of the current status quo -- I’m here to support you in finding the life you know is out there for you!
