For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Taking that first step is always anxiety provoking but my job is to help create a safe and supportive space to help ease you into the process of therapy. I believe that having a space that is just for you, is transformative, powerful and healing. I have found this to be true for myself in my own journey with therapy. So, give it a try!
Hello and bienvenue! I work with a diverse clientele and specialize in providing social justice oriented psychotherapy to people of color, as well as members of LGBTQIA+ communities. I provide culturally responsive therapy, which focuses on the strengths that you already have. I tend to use an Interpersonal Process theoretical approach (IPT) as well as a cognitive-behavioral theoretical approach (CBT) while also paying attention to your environment and access to social support. I work with you to build a safe space where you can share your experiences without the fear of being judged, and where you can focus on becoming clear about what you want, and how you want to go about making that happen. I believe that it is important to build a strong therapeutic relationship, as well as paying close attention to what is happening for you in-the-moment. I find it helpful to work to understand the different values and beliefs that we bring into the room, and how these worldviews might affect our interactions with each other. Understanding how your thoughts are related to your behaviors can empower and help you to actively account for your reality. You can use this insight to make the changes that will be necessary to live life more healthily.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I understand the hesitation to start therapy. It is a strange, uncomfortable thing to be vulnerable with someone you don't know. It can feel easier to try to convince ourselves we don't need it, that we can get by without it, or that our problems aren't "big" enough to need therapy. But why just get by, or keep surviving, when you can experience better and begin thriving? Therapy can help with a variety of struggles, and you don't have to wait until something is unbearable to get help, find healing, and feel better. It takes immense courage to reach out for help, and with the right therapist, my hope is that your bravery will be met with compassion and empathy, that you'll begin to feel heard, to feel a weight lift. Therapy is a challenging, but incredibly rewarding process. I wish you all the best on your journey!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with teens, adults, and couples throughout the state of Texas through my own telehealth counseling private practice. I attended Texas A&M University for undergraduate studies and completed my Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. I am EMDRIA trained in EMDR therapy. I am also certified as a SYMBIS Assessment and Prepare/Enrich Facilitator to help dating, engaged, and married couples. I consider it a privilege to counsel others- to hear people’s stories, witness immense courage and resilience, help carry someone’s burdens, celebrate each individual’s beautiful, unique humanity, and assist in healing and change. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

If you are feeling alone or uncertain about therapy, know that this is very common. The truth is that therapy can be a huge help and is a sign of strength when people seek it out. A lot of people isolate themselves in their struggles or only think that therapy is what they have seen on TV or in a movie. Therapy provides folks with safe space, an empathetic ear, and tools to be better equipped when we get tripped up by different dynamics.
I have talked with many people who have tried every solution they can think of to bring relief to areas of life that feel stuck. I would love to sit down with you and discover what that has been like for you. Together we can work through the dynamics, emotions, and thoughts that have been the cause of such hurt or difficulty and bring a greater sense of peace and control. My focus is to listen deeply to my clients, bring awareness to their needs, and find a path toward positive change in meeting those needs. Whether I'm working with individuals, couples, or families, I help each person find their voice and understand themselves better. I have a demonstrated track record for increasing insight, deepening emotional awareness, and responding to people with sensitivity and empathy. It is my heartfelt desire to come alongside individuals, couples, and families helping to unlock a variety of life's challenges. ** I offer in-person sessions (with precautions per Los Angeles County guidance). I also offer services by video or phone. **
