For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I would tell them that therapy is a safe and supportive space where they can explore their feelings and challenges without judgment. It’s natural to feel hesitant, but therapy is about empowering you to understand and manage your mental health in a way that promotes overall well-being. Taking that first step can lead to meaningful progress and positive change, and I’m here to guide you through the process with compassion and respect.
Hello! I'm a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a passion for helping people. After earning my Master's in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston and my Bachelor's from Boston College, I went on to specialize in psychiatric care. I currently work at a Behavioral Health Hospital in CT, where I focus on treating geriatric patients with various mental health conditions. My approach includes supportive, personalized and compassionate care. Previously, I worked at a Private Practice in New Britain, where I prescribed medication, diagnosed and managed treatments for mental health disorders across the life span. I always strive to support my patients and their families through clear communication and comprehensive care plans. Earlier in my career, I was a Registered Nurse at Hartford Hospital's Institute of Living. There, I cared for patients with conditions like depression, dementia, and schizophrenia. I also enjoyed mentoring new nurses and working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. I'm certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I'm also trained in Basic Cardiac Life Support. I look forward to partnering with you on your health journey!

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Personally, I will use therapy for the rest of my life. I find it helps me to process unconscious material, to build up my core of robust vulnerability, and to level-up my life. If I wasn't in therapy I would be spraying unconscious material into my work and relationships and staying stuck in the same unhelpful patterns. With therapy, my life keeps getting simpler, richer, bigger, and more connected. Therapy also helps me to stay in touch with the poetic quality of my life and the mythological arc or hero's journey that I am on. If I can stay in touch with this quality, my story becomes more heroic over time.
Do you feel burned out or stuck in a life that no longer works for you? Does your body feel pained, exhausted, or overly anxious. Do you feel like a phony or that the real you hasn't yet emerged. Well, you've only been this age once. Maybe it's time to give your life an overhaul. Somatic psychology is a cutting-edge approach that works to restore the nervous system to a state of healthy regulation, energy, flow and feeling at home in your body. This provides a foundation of authentic self-esteem that becomes the basis for a big meaningful career and a network of healthy relationships—a life that feels great on the inside. The core of my work uses Somatic Experiencing, a body-oriented approach grounded in neuroscience and the latest in trauma-informed research. It works to discharge bound survival energy, disrupt tension patterns, and reset and revitalize the nervous system. Somatic therapy pairs extremely well with psychedelic work to accelerate the process of healing. I also integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment patterns, and a psychodynamic approach into my work. My main areas of specialization are: - Authentic Career Adaptation - Attachment Strategies in Relationships - Chronic Pain and Health Conditions - Psychedelic Integration - Owning your Identity (LGBT and other) Whether you are new to therapy or have spent years talking about your problems without improvement, you may have been using the wrong approach. If you'd like to learn more about my approach and why it can be more effective than talk therapy, visit my website and schedule a free 30-minute consultation. I look forward to meeting you.

Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and you don’t have to navigate challenges alone. I create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can feel heard and understood while working toward healing and personal growth.
Hello, I’m Liz Comstock, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner committed to providing specialized mental health care for those who serve the public. With over 10 years of critical care nursing experience in top East Coast hospitals—including 4.5 years in DC’s leading trauma and burn resuscitation unit—I’ve worked closely with healthcare professionals, emergency responders, military personnel, and law enforcement officers. Through these experiences, I have gained firsthand insight into the immense pressures and emotional burdens faced by those in public service. I understand the unique challenges of maintaining mental health while working in high-stress, high-stakes environments. That’s why I provide personalized, stigma-free psychiatric care that prioritizes both symptom relief and professional functionality. My goal is to create a safe, confidential space where those who dedicate their lives to others can prioritize their own mental well-being. Whether you’re struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, or the emotional toll of your profession, I am here to help. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that fits your needs—one that supports both your personal well-being and your professional responsibilities. Treatment Philosophy: I believe that mental health care for public servants should be accessible, stigma-free, and tailored to the unique pressures of their roles. My approach integrates evidence-based treatments with a deep understanding of public service culture, ensuring that care supports both emotional well-being and professional functionality. For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Counseling is a process that you control and drive. I am along for the ride, to help you understand the map and how to navigate the road. You tell me what you would like to have happen--what is troubling you now and how you would like to feel when we are finished. Sharing your story with a stranger is sometimes hard but sometimes easier than sharing it with someone with whom you have history. My role as your counselor/therapist is to become your ally on this therapeutic journey and to provide a safe space where you can talk and be yourself without fear of judgment. I promise to be honest with you and support you as you explore who you are and become accepting of yourself. I will work to earn your trust and to shine a light on the road ahead.
I am a licensed professional counselor with my home in Upland, California. I am licensed in California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico and am currently doing remote counseling only. I was born in El Paso, Texas and both my parents are Mexican-American. I moved to California in 2021 after living in Arizona for 30 years. I am bilingual Spanish-English and can provide therapy services in Spanish. My graduate education includes a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Experimental Psychology from Arizona State University (1989) and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling (2014) from Ottawa University. Before I entered the counseling profession, I was residential faculty at Phoenix College teaching classes in Psychology, Sociology and Women's Studies for 25 years.
