How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Our team draws on a wealth of expertise and experience in effective cognitive and behavioral treatments. The approaches we utilize most often are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy called Exposure Therapy or Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Through these approaches, clients learn to modify unhelpful patterns of thinking; reduce undesirable behavior patterns (such as avoidance, anxious behaviors, or procrastination); and gradually confront and master the situations, activities, objects, and memories that cause anxiety. Where appropriate, we integrate mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help clients cope more effectively with difficult thoughts, feelings, and situations. We will work closely with you to custom-tailor treatment and identify the combination of strategies, principles, and tools most likely to work for you based on your particular problems, needs, and goals. For clients with certain problems and needs, we also draw upon in-depth training in more specialized cognitive-behavioral treatments, including: - Habit Reversal Training (HRT) for trichotillomania and excoriation disorders - Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB) for trichotillomania and excoriation disorders - Prolonged Exposure (PE) for trauma and PTSD - Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD Behavioral Activation (BA) for depression - Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) Therapy for generalized anxiety - Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training
Dr. Daniel Chazin is a clinical psychologist and Director of the Center for Anxiety, OCD, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In addition, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Pennsylvania‘s Perelman School of Medicine and as a regional representative and board member of the National Social Anxiety Center (NSAC). He specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapies and effective, state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatments for adults and teens suffering from anxiety, phobic, obsessive-compulsive, picking/pulling, and traumatic stress disorders, plus commonly associated problems (like depression, sleep problems, and perfectionism). As a Board Certified Psychologist in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology (ABPP) and Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT), Dr. Chazin draws upon unusual levels of clinical expertise, research knowledge, and experience working effectively with clients with a range of anxiety and related issues. How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Starting off by Psycho education of the variety of anxiety symptoms there are, discussion of possible triggers or patterns the client has experienced and discussion and rehearsal of coping skills to reduce overall stress and symptoms. 
Lizette is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has been helping individuals, children and families for 19 years. She earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree of Science in Counseling. She has clinical experience with individual and family sessions, conducting groups, and working as a Clinical Director. Her philosophy is helping teach families and children ways to enrich their abilities and help them thrive. Lizette’s first step is to help de-mystify psychological terms in order for everyone to gain a better understanding of what is going on. The work begins when skills are introduced in order to increase the use of positive emotional management. Let’s face it – change is hard, when trying to stop or start something new everything takes time, but it can be done with clinical help and support. She utilizes a variety of tools that can help in decreasing problematic symptoms to include Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychoeducation, Grounding Techniques and the list goes on. Everything will be openly communicated and tailored to your individual needs in order to make sure the treatment plan is a good fit.
