How can you provide care remotely?
As a licensed professional counselor with extensive experience in various settings, including private practice, community mental health clinics, and schools, I'm well-equipped to provide comprehensive care remotely. Leveraging technology, I can offer secure video conferencing sessions, phone calls, or even messaging platforms for ongoing support. Through these mediums, I can conduct therapy sessions, provide assessments, offer guidance, and support clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. My background in utilizing technology for treatment, especially during my time at the University of Texas at Dallas' Brain Performance Institute, gives me a unique advantage in delivering effective remote care. I prioritize creating a safe and supportive environment, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards in all remote interactions.
Hi there! My name is Amanda Russo and I’m the clinical director of Balanced Life Solutions. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I’ve lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area my whole life. I went to The University of Texas in Dallas and obtained a Bachelor’s in Child Learning and Development and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. During undergrad, I entered an internship working with autistic children, which spurred my love for working with the neurodivergent community. I then went on to study at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where I received a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling. It was during my time at UTSW that I discovered my passion for neuropsychological and educational assessment where I worked for both the UTSW Psychological Services Department and the Parkland Trauma Unit. After school, I went on to work in several private practices, local community mental health clinics and public schools. In addition to being a counselor, I’m also a certified teacher in elementary education, special education, and school counseling. I’m extremely passionate about advocating for the appropriate educational services for children with special needs. After working for the schools, I did neuroscience research and treatment for divergent social cognition with the University of Texas at Dallas’ Brain Performance Institute. There, I utilized technology to provide treatment in an online interface, focusing on improving childrens’ ability to understand other peoples’ thoughts and implicit social information. Additionally, I gave presentations around the DFW metroplex focusing on how educators and parents could help foster social cognition. I have expertise in neurodivergent diagnoses including autism, ADHD, and learning differences including gifted learners. Additionally, I have a strong passion for working with neurodivergent women and AFAB individuals as they are chronically under- and misdiagnosed due to their presentation of symptoms. When I’m not counseling, I love spending time with my three children. I also enjoy singing, traveling, and reading books, especially on the topics of neuroscience and psychology.

How can you provide care remotely?
I provide remote care through secure online platforms, conducting virtual assessments and therapy sessions via telehealth. My approach incorporates tailored strategies, adapted for remote delivery, prioritizing a supportive and confidential online environment. This ensures personalized care, covering academic, emotional, and social support. Remote sessions offer flexibility and accessibility, promoting continuity of care for individuals seeking assistance.
For over 15 years, I dedicated myself to being a clinical and educational psychologist, forging deep connections with countless students and their families. This passion and dedication were recognized when I received the "Outstanding Psychologist of the Year" award from the Los Angeles Association of School Psychologists. With such a rich history in the field, transitioning into private practice was the next logical step. Over the past three years, I've donned multiple hats: a Licensed Educational Psychologist, a Certified Clinical Tele-mental Health Services Provider, and a Certified Clinical ADHD Provider. My zeal for telehealth is undeniable. This digital medium lets me reach out to countless individuals across California, breaking geographical barriers. It's an absolute boon for those grappling with anxiety or depression, allowing them to find solace without stepping out. What makes my approach stand out? It's the unique strategies and hacks I've cultivated. They're not just effective; they're quick and easy. A mere 5-10 minutes of daily practice with these techniques promises significant improvement. Whether it's enhancing focus, bettering sleep habits, or just generally uplifting one's outlook on life, the benefits are manifold. But there's a challenge I must address. The title "Educational Psychologist" sometimes leads to misconceptions. Despite this label, I possess clinical certifications that equip me to offer services equivalent to many clinical psychologists. In fact, my extensive training and hands-on experience often surpass many traditional licenses out there. It's disheartening when the expertise gets overshadowed by a mere title. I prioritize affordable, inclusive mental health support. Sliding scale fees for all and free 15-min consultations for students. Don't let a title define the quality of care you receive. Let's pave a healthier, happier path together.
