I am passionate about utilizing strengths-based approaches, narrative therapy, and positive psychology in my practice. These frameworks allow us to shift the focus toward your strengths, fostering resilience and growth rather than dwelling on challenges. I firmly believe that emphasizing the positives in our lives can be a transformative process. I take pride in maintaining a nonjudgmental and compassionate stance, creating a safe and supportive space for both adolescents and adults facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, and interpersonal issues. I bring extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals of various ages and abilities. Individuals considering working with me should know that I approach each client with empathy, respect, and a commitment to their well-being. My diverse background and real-world experiences have shaped my approach to care, allowing me to connect with clients from all walks of life and create individualized treatment plans that honor their unique needs and preferences. I prioritize collaborative decision-making and actively involve clients in the treatment process, empowering them to take an active role in their mental health journey.
Greetings! I'm Dr. Joshua Werblin, a dedicated psychiatrist with a compassionate approach to care. My practice is a sanctuary for individuals of all ages seeking mental wellness. My journey began at The University of Chicago, where I delved into the fundamentals of society and its utopian ideals. I took a somewhat circuitous path from there, working in different fields for nearly a decade before starting to study for my medical degree (M.D.) at Tulane University School of Medicine. During those ten years, I worked variously as a biophysicist, wooden boatbuilder, IT support, astrophysics technical work, and an Auxiliary NYPD officer in Harlem. I completed a Pediatrics Internship at Tulane University, followed by a narrower focus in General Psychiatry Residency training, also at Tulane. I then received subspecialty fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, followed by the acquisition of Addiction Psychiatry sub-specialization some years later. My career has been diverse, including roles as an Inpatient Psychiatrist, Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist, and several Outpatient Psychiatry positions in New York, Florida, and Maryland. More than half of my career has been spent serving the most underserved and marginalized populations, such as youth and women rescued from the sex trade, runaway youth, homeless families, LGBTQIA++ populations, and undocumented immigrants. Since 2019, I've been proudly serving as 'The Feelings Doctor' in my solo virtual practice, offering psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and those facing addiction challenges. My commitment to you is simple: to provide empathetic, individualized, evidence-based care that supports your unique journey toward mental health wellness, whether or not you choose to use medications along the way. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and embrace the path to healing and fulfillment.
