What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I am deeply committed to creating a safe, open, and honest space for you to: 1) share, explore, and process emotions, thoughts, and experiences 2) confront unhealthy and problematic emotional, mental, and behavioral patterns 3) build your self-confidence and self-worth 4) learn and practice healthy coping skills and techniques to resolve conflict and/or generally enhance your personal and inter-personal relationships . We will work together to identify areas of concern, create goals, and implement tangible and results oriented action steps towards realizing those goals.
Hello and welcome! I am a psychotherapist who is passionate about working with individuals and families seeking positive change and compassionate support. I specialize in working with diverse clients, especially young adults, who are navigating through life transitions and who are experiencing anxiety/stress, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, depression and grief/loss. I believe that while pain is inevitable and often uncontrollable, suffering is a choice based on how we process, cope and react to challenges that life throws our way. Therefore, I am focused on ensuring that my clients gain the necessary insight, skills and practical tools to learn how to honor and express their pain without allowing it to control them. Holistic and integrative in my approach, I aim to uniquely tailor therapy sessions to each client’s needs by utilizing a variety of techniques that expand insight and encourage emotional, behavioral and cognitive change.

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
Curious about what your sessions will look like? Well, let me tell you. After you complete the first session paperwork online, you will have your first session. In our first session, we will go over the finer details of the paperwork, address any questions and then jump into what is bringing you in. For my couples, we will discuss how the two of you met in addition to what is bringing you into therapy. I also send my couples a Gottman Connect assessment to complete. This assessment will give me a more detailed overview of what is going on for the two of you. You will also receive a pdf of the tools that will be helpful for you given the results of the assessment. Our second session, we will complete a family map, so that I can understand where your strong and tense relationships are, what major events you have experienced in your life and patterns in family dynamics. We will also discuss your supportive friendships. For couples, I like to do the family maps with one partner at a time, so we can either split this session in half where I meet with one partner for the first half of the session and the other partner the second half of the session. OR I can meet with one partner during the second session and the other partner the third session. Our third session (0r maybe fourth for couples), we will get specific in setting the goals that you have for therapy. Throughout these sessions and in the sessions that follow we will also be discussing what is going on for you and what you are currently needing based on what you’re experiencing. I will be giving you tools along the way.
Welcome! I help individuals and couples make sense of their overwhelm by defining the problem and giving them tools to practice in session. You will also be assigned homework and I will provide you with the resources you need (quizzes, pdf’s, book recommendations, etc) to achieve your goals outside of your session. I am a licensed social worker and I am trained in marriage and family therapy. What that means is that in therapy we will look at the patterns in your life, your connections with others and the impact of your environment when working toward your goals. I love realness in therapy. I value being honest and direct with you and welcome your honesty and directness as well.
