“A span of life is nothing. But the man who lives that span, he is something. He can fill that tiny span with meaning, so its quality is immeasurable though its quantity may be insignificant.” – Chaim Potok, The Chosen “Every time we ask a question, we’re generating a possible version of a life.” – David Epston  Hi! I’m Jaime, and I’m honored to make your acquaintance. I am currently a graduate student in the Master of Arts Marriage and Family Therapy Program at National University. I am working under the supervision of Rosa Montoya, LMFT#115495. I have experience working with school-aged children in academic settings as an instructional assistant for special education. Additionally, as an MFT trainee, I have had the privilege of collaborating with children and teens who have experienced bullying and abuse to explore preferred identities. I also have a variety of lived experiences that have expanded my ability to question my assumptions, listen empathetically, and be curious. My life has been one in search for meaning. When I was younger, I thought that meaning came from the answers to life’s difficult questions like “What does my suffering say about me?”, “Who am I?”, and “How do I make a difference?” – and I searched for answers in many contexts, including spirituality, creative writing, art, music, and literature. My personal search for meaning and answers led me to volunteer for disaster relief in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami; while I was in Japan, I encountered what it was like to live in another culture and respect and value other ways of being. Since that experience, I have found that questions – not answers – hold a universe of possibilities and allow meaning to grow, change, and become with me. As a narrative therapist-in-training, I am passionate about exploring with you all the rich possibilities of becoming. I see life as a journey whose paths, detours, fellow travelers, luggage, and destinations are yours to choose, define, and relate to in ways that reflect your values and the meaning you wish to create. I hope to collaborate with you in questioning constrained descriptions of life to create more space for you to reauthor, explore, and discover new possibilities of being and becoming. It would be my honor to join with you in elevating and privileging your voice, experiences, knowledge, preferred meaning, and values in our conversations together. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to joining with you on your journey!

Maria Steiner-Renoir

PMHNP-BC, FNP-C
Online Therapy
Welcome to my world of holistic psychiatry and mental wellness! I’m Maria, a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), dedicated to guiding individuals towards vibrant mental and physical health. I help adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, and other mental disorders to regain their vitality and centeredness, create a better understanding of self, and achieve closer relationships with others. I specialize in working with women facing major life transitions and events such as divorce, adoption, birth, moving, severe illness, and death in the family. While I work with patients of all backgrounds, I am especially equipped to offer culturally competent care to first or second-generation immigrants struggling with issues of acculturation and self-acceptance. I support patients in discovering their self-worth and confidence while fostering a sense of belonging by working through their generational traumas and thought patterns that no longer serve them. My holistic approach to care considers patients’ physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Together, we’ll create personalized treatment plans that may include mindfulness exercises, supplements, medication, therapy, self-care rituals, nutrition protocols, and exercise plans. TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: As a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), I take a holistic approach: I consider patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Together, we create personalized treatment plans that may include mindfulness exercises, supplements, medication, therapy, and lifestyle adjustments. I prioritize overall wellness, not just symptom management. I empower patients to actively participate in their mental and physical health journey. I reject the notion of a “one size fits all” approach to mindcare and wellness. My collaborative, personalized treatment plans are created with respect to your values, concerns, trepidations, and belief systems. Let’s create a personalized action plan as unique as you are!
