How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
I take a trauma-informed, compassionate approach that prioritizes safety, collaboration, and respect for your pace. Trauma can affect how we relate to ourselves, our bodies, our relationships, and our sense of safety in the world. Together, we work to understand how past experiences continue to impact the present while building practical tools for emotional regulation and healing. Depending on your needs, I integrate evidence-based therapies, sex therapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) to help process traumatic experiences, reduce symptoms, strengthen self-compassion, and support lasting recovery. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to yourself and others.
I am a licensed clinical social worker, certified to provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and an AASECT-certified Sex Therapist. I bring a trauma-focused perspective to all of my work and pull from a mix of evidence-based treatments depending on client need. My specialties are in sex therapy and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. My experience providing sex therapy includes treatment for the following conditions: desire discrepancy in couples; low sex drive; ED, PE, vaginismus, vulvodynia, recovery from sexual trauma, erotic recovery and emotional healing after an affair, negotiating boundaries within monogamy, the development of a polyamorous agreement, out-of-control sexual behaviors and kink-affirming care. I am so excited about ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), which I provide in partnership with prescribers through Journey Clinical. While nothing is a magic cure, I have been amazed and inspired by the rapid improvement I've seen in my KAP clients' lives.

How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
I provide a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment where clients can process difficult experiences at their own pace. I understand that trauma affects each person differently, so I tailor treatment to each client's age, needs, and goals. With children and adolescents, I work closely with caregivers to strengthen emotional support, improve communication, and help create a sense of safety both at home and in therapy. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based interventions, I help clients understand the impact of trauma, develop healthy coping skills, regulate difficult emotions, and gradually build resilience. My goal is to empower clients to regain a sense of control, strengthen their confidence, and move forward with greater hope and emotional well-being.
Mya McNeil is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and families thrive. She believes every child deserves a safe, welcoming space where they feel heard, understood, and supported. Mya partners closely with children and their families to strengthen communication, build healthy coping skills, and foster emotional growth both in and outside of therapy. As an Afro-Latina therapist, Mya is committed to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care that honors each client's unique experiences and strengths. Her approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to each individual's needs. She integrates evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. In addition to her work with children, teens, and families, Mya also enjoys working with adults seeking support through life transitions, stress, anxiety, and personal growth.

How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
When working with clients who have experienced trauma or PTSD, I take a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment. I understand that trauma can affect emotions, thoughts, relationships, and physical well-being, and I tailor treatment to each individual's unique experiences and needs. Together, we work to understand trauma responses, develop healthy coping skills, manage symptoms such as anxiety, hypervigilance, nightmares, or emotional distress, and build resilience over time. My goal is to help clients regain a sense of control, improve daily functioning, and move toward healing at a pace that feels safe and comfortable. When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, and coordination with specialized trauma-focused therapeutic services.

How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
I work with clients with trauma and PTSD through a compassionate, steady, and individualized approach. I begin by creating a safe, confidential space where you can feel heard without judgment. Together, we look at how trauma may be affecting your mood, sleep, anxiety, relationships, concentration, and overall sense of safety. Because I am trained in psychiatric care and medication management, I can also assess whether symptoms such as panic, depression, nightmares, irritability, or sleep disruption may benefit from medication support. My goal is not to rush your healing, but to help you feel more stable, understood, and equipped with tools to manage symptoms while moving toward greater peace and emotional strength.
As a dual board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner, I bring a rare and powerful combination of psychiatric and oncology expertise to my practice. With years of experience as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner, I deeply understand the emotional impact of serious medical illness — not just clinically, but personally. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and thoughtful medication management for anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, sleep disorders, and caregiver stress. My approach is warm, confidential, and patient-centered — creating a safe space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I have a special focus on individuals facing cancer. Whether you are navigating chemotherapy, struggling with fear of recurrence, adjusting to survivorship, or supporting a loved one through treatment, I offer specialized psychiatric care tailored to the unique emotional challenges of cancer and caregiving.

Why is trauma processing important?
Trauma processing is important as trauma literally re-wires our brain and leaves us experiencing life out of this survival, fight/flight lens. Constantly living life on the edge of trauma can be exhausting and leave you burnt-out,  less trusting, and experiencing surface level relationships. Processing trauma can allow us to release the tension of internalized guilt/shame both emotionally and physically leaving us more open to new and health experiences.
Hi, I am Octavia a therapist at Your Voice Matters Therapy. I am accepting new clients so feel free to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. I aim to create a warm, safe, confidential, and judgment-free space for clients. It is important for clients to have such a space to be able to unpack and explore all that is bothering them. I work with clients through a few different approaches such as strength-based, Humanistic, and mindfulness. Therapy is not one size fits all and thus I tailor my work to each individual client. I believe that everyone is the author of their life story. In that story, you may experience many challenges, but know that you do not have to face those challenges alone. Together we can work through those challenges so that you are ready and prepared for whatever other challenges the future may hold. Together we will build a tool kit to help you continue your life story. Do not end it here!

How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
I help clients safely process traumatic memories while stabilizing the nervous system and reducing reactivity. Using evidence-based methods such as EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, grounding techniques, and emotional regulation strategies, we work to lessen the intensity of triggers, rebuild a sense of safety, and restore healthier patterns of thinking and responding.
I’m Dr. Lisa Palmer, Clinical Director of The Renew Center of Florida, where I provide compassionate, specialized therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Through both in-person sessions and secure virtual care across Florida, I support clients in finding clarity, healing, and meaningful, lasting change. With advanced clinical training and decades of experience, I help adults and teens work through anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, substance use, relationship struggles, life transitions, and stress-related challenges—always with a focus on restoring balance and strengthening emotional well-being. My therapeutic approach is highly personalized. I draw from a broad range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, mindfulness-based techniques, trauma-focused interventions, and emotional regulation strategies. Together, we identify the patterns that no longer serve you and develop practical, effective tools to support healthier thoughts, improved coping, and a renewed sense of resilience.
