I provide therapy for those who love differently. Life isn’t always easy feeling like a round peg person in a square hole world. Whether exploring ethical nonmonogamy in polyamory, swinging, kink, or your own sexual identity, not knowing what to expect can be scary. Experience in the ENM world does not always guarantee smooth sailing either. I can help you with your next steps forward to a vibrant, full, true-to-yourself life. Some people have just been polybombed, the love of their life seeming to say they’re not enough. Others, having taken the leap can’t seem to stop fighting. Feeling isolated, scared, tired, and like they're going to lose everything. Take a moment to imagine your life as it could be in a few months. You are in love, all over again. With your partner, a new partner, yourself, and how you live. Accepted for who you are, allowed to love in a way that feels natural, you are excited in your new life. I work WITH you to offer custom therapeutic approaches as wonderfully powerful and unique as you are. I got into being a therapist watching people I loved and cared about going to amazingly experienced therapists, then spending the entire first session teaching that therapist the basic vocabulary of their lives, or that the way they lived their life differently wasn’t the problem they were having, the anxiety or depression or what have you was. I felt my people, the fun and weird and hurt, needed a native understanding so I got to work.

You may be tired of feeling stuck in the same cycles, weighed down by anxiety that will not let up, or triggered by memories that intrude when you least expect them. Trauma and complex PTSD often show up in both the body and mind, leaving you feeling on edge, hypervigilant, disconnected, or shut down. You might notice racing thoughts, panic, sleepless nights, or a deep sense of loneliness even when you are surrounded by people. In relationships, you may long for closeness yet feel guarded, or find yourself repeating patterns that leave you hurt and unseen. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. I work with individuals who are navigating trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, and relationship struggles. I use EMDR, somatic approaches, and attachment-focused therapy to help you process painful experiences, release what has been stored in the body, and find relief from symptoms that feel overwhelming. Together, we will create space for your nervous system to regulate, so you can move from survival into healing and begin to experience peace and connection again. I also work with couples and those preparing for marriage who want to strengthen their relationship. Whether you are struggling with communication, trust, conflict, or intimacy, or simply want to build a strong foundation before saying “I do,” couples therapy and premarital counseling provide a supportive space to grow together. Relationships shaped by past wounds or stress do not have to stay stuck in old patterns. Healing as a couple is possible, and you can learn to build connection, safety, and understanding with one another. My approach is compassionate and collaborative. This is not about rushing or forcing change, but about honoring your story and creating new ways forward. You deserve to feel safe in your own skin, to experience relationships marked by trust and love, and to find freedom from the pain you have carried. Healing is possible, and you do not have to walk through it alone. Christian counseling is available for clients requesting it. Contact me for your your free, no-obligation 15-minute video consultation today.

Hi there! My name is Amanda Russo and I’m the clinical director of Balanced Life Solutions. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I’ve lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area my whole life. I went to The University of Texas in Dallas and obtained a Bachelor’s in Child Learning and Development and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. During undergrad, I entered an internship working with autistic children, which spurred my love for working with the neurodivergent community. I then went on to study at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where I received a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling. It was during my time at UTSW that I discovered my passion for neuropsychological and educational assessment where I worked for both the UTSW Psychological Services Department and the Parkland Trauma Unit. After school, I went on to work in several private practices, local community mental health clinics and public schools. In addition to being a counselor, I’m also a certified teacher in elementary education, special education, and school counseling. I’m extremely passionate about advocating for the appropriate educational services for children with special needs. After working for the schools, I did neuroscience research and treatment for divergent social cognition with the University of Texas at Dallas’ Brain Performance Institute. There, I utilized technology to provide treatment in an online interface, focusing on improving childrens’ ability to understand other peoples’ thoughts and implicit social information. Additionally, I gave presentations around the DFW metroplex focusing on how educators and parents could help foster social cognition. I have expertise in neurodivergent diagnoses including autism, ADHD, and learning differences including gifted learners. Additionally, I have a strong passion for working with neurodivergent women and AFAB individuals as they are chronically under- and misdiagnosed due to their presentation of symptoms. When I’m not counseling, I love spending time with my three children. I also enjoy singing, traveling, and reading books, especially on the topics of neuroscience and psychology.
