How do you work with clients on the autism spectrum?
I strive to continuously educate myself and recognize the ways in which society has and continues to disenfranchise and disables autistic and other neurodivergent individuals. In my research and clinical career, I have had the honor of hearing directly from autistic people about their experiences in the various systems of care in our society. Their stories have both enraged me and invigorated me to be an advocate and to show up better for them. As a non-autistic person, I recognize my privilege and the limitations of my understanding that come with it. I intentionally seek out autistic voices and lived experiences to educate myself first-hand on how to best support my autistic clients. For example, a lot of my initial learning and continued understanding of the Neurodiversity Paradigm is pulled from Dr. Nick Walker's work. I also would like to make clear that I subscribe to the social model of disability. I recognize that my learning will be a lifelong journey. If what I say resonates with you and it sounds like I could be a good fit for you, I hope that we can collaborate together in the therapy space. I look forward to walking alongside you!
You’ve tried everything you can, and still… You struggle to manage your emotions, and you don’t understand why your mood seems to go from 0 to 100 at the drop of a hat. Because you feel so deeply, things that seem harmless to other people cause you immense pain, panic, and distress. You feel hopeless about the future and sometimes hurt yourself in the process of trying to manage it all. You are in the right place. At Spring Day Therapy, I work with teens & young adults to provide compassionate, collaborative (and oftentimes playful!) evidence-based treatment.

Online Therapy
Greetings! I'm Dr. Joshua Werblin, a dedicated psychiatrist with a compassionate approach to care. My practice is a sanctuary for individuals of all ages seeking mental wellness. My journey began at The University of Chicago, where I delved into the fundamentals of society and its utopian ideals. I took a somewhat circuitous path from there, working in different fields for nearly a decade before starting to study for my medical degree (M.D.) at Tulane University School of Medicine. During those ten years, I worked variously as a biophysicist, wooden boatbuilder, IT support, astrophysics technical work, and an Auxiliary NYPD officer in Harlem. I completed a Pediatrics Internship at Tulane University, followed by a narrower focus in General Psychiatry Residency training, also at Tulane. I then received subspecialty fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, followed by the acquisition of Addiction Psychiatry sub-specialization some years later. My career has been diverse, including roles as an Inpatient Psychiatrist, Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist, and several Outpatient Psychiatry positions in New York, Florida, and Maryland. More than half of my career has been spent serving the most underserved and marginalized populations, such as youth and women rescued from the sex trade, runaway youth, homeless families, LGBTQIA++ populations, and undocumented immigrants. Since 2019, I've been proudly serving as 'The Feelings Doctor' in my solo virtual practice, offering psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and those facing addiction challenges. My commitment to you is simple: to provide empathetic, individualized, evidence-based care that supports your unique journey toward mental health wellness, whether or not you choose to use medications along the way. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and embrace the path to healing and fulfillment.
