For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I believe therapy can benefit anyone, from people struggling with severe mental disorders to those who just desire a more fulfilling life. Therapy is a relationship between a client and another human being who happens to know a few things about how to achieve optimum mental health. Within this relationship, all kinds of things can happen! Exercises to eliminate symptoms, deep conversations that bring clarity and insight, new ideas and goals that motivate you toward a brighter future. Therapy is exciting. It is a journey, an adventure! The therapist is merely walking with you and supporting you as you tread the path of life.
My advice is to just try it! If you don't hit it off with the first therapist, try a different one. This is your path, your journey. You have the power to choose who you want to walk beside you.
